  1. Mazda announced on August 23, 2011, that RX-8 will be discontinued from production citing the 2011 model as the last line of production. The RX-8 was removed from the European market in 2010 after the car failed to meet emissions standards.

Without the volume sales from Europe coupled with rising Yen prices, Mazda could not justify the continued sale of the RX-8 in other markets.[

  2. Mazda has recalled 15,000 cars globally to address a flaw which could result in a fire under the passenger seat.

The brand has suspended deliveries of its medium-sized 6 because of a faulty part inside an electrical converter that “may cause overheating and in a worse case scenario, a fire”.

Mazda says two cars have caught fire, one in Europe and one in Australia. The cars were with dealers at the time, and the problems are understood to have occurred in the last week.

More than 1500 Australian owners will be affected by the recall. Mazda says it will provide them with alternative transport while repairs are performed.

The component is part of Mazda’s i-ELOOP system that recovers energy to help reduce fuel use.

  3. Myth statement:

Urinating on an electric fence can cause electrocution. (Spinoff of Peeing on the Third Rail)

    Busted/Plausible

Upon retesting the myth on an electric fence it was found to be Plausible, but the rail was still Busted. Distance was the factor, as the urine stream breaks up less at the close range needed for urinating on the fence than urinating on the third rail, thus ensuring a direct line of current between one's body and the electrical source.
