THX-1138
*Edited by "The Joker" "Hybrid replacement of the 626 and the Millenia," / incorrect statement (quoted by expert "the Mazda6, with its four-cylinder and V6 engines, directly replaced the 626; the Millenia was a luxury-class vehicle at a higher base price point with no four-cylinder engine") *post by The Joker* it was marketed as a dual replacement, imo they never should have allowed a 4cyl version even in the base model

Troutman
In Australia the 6s are all 4 cylinder. In the Eunie's day you could get 6 cylinder 323s.

mohamedeladawy@hotmail.com
the 626 was offered in a 4 cylinder format in the 1990's which explains the 4 cylinder format
Troutman
The 626/6 was always available as a four here, but only select '90s models had 6 cylinders.
colbylamb2006
The Mazda 6 sucks! the millenia name should have never been put beside that name
enginph
come on M6 is not that bad. 4-cylinder is common on its class, so V6 is more absurd than a 4. Lantis used to have 2.0 (or was that 1.8?) V6, damn good car for its time. It would not be correct to compare with a milly, different class cars, different price ranges. And bhr, 8-cylinder owners would hate V6..
ing-schu@online.no
The Mazda 6 is not a replacement for the Millenia, but that does not necessarily make it bad car. For its class it is one of the best, even during its swansong before the new model. Let's face it, compared to the Millenia is has more interior as well as trunk space, better suspension both for comfort and roadholding (family mans Miata someone stated), and at least as good reliability. Admittedly not the smoothest engines around, the fourpots. But the 2,3 NA 4-pot will be able to challenge the Miller Cycle any day, at least with a manual tranny. What I'd call development. BUT in my opinion it isn't half as classy.
Troutman
The rarity factor is not there however good its credentials may be.
dwmcqueen
The 6 4 cyl isn't that bad. My dad went out with Mazda in the desert and was able to test out a 6 in the early days on a dirt track - they took him in a 4 cyl.
///BHRpowered
I like the v6, drove it at mazda rev-it up a few years ago. I would buy one if I had a long commute
