///BHRpowered
Yesterday was the day. Sunny 62 degree day, large rain storm washed away road salt and everything was dried. I started by unlocking its capsule and removing it from shelter. I cleaned the air filter, measured calipers drained oil, restored tire psi and changed filter. Went and got 5 gallons of fresh gas in jeep, added some stablizer for the next time its shut down, added gas while fresh oil sat in the sun warming itself. Then the time came, I added the luke warm oil to the crankcase, disconnected the battery charger and it instantly came to life in all its glory. As requested I made a video this time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flTlXhltKKU The good - Driving a millenia in the PROPER way is an excellent feeling, drove 100 miles, about 30 miles highway the rest old country and mountains roads, some at high speed some at a gentle pace. HID's still blow me away and few things made my day better then a group of asians in an 06-08ish tl type S, or as its properly referred to - cookie cutter car with a factory rice package. On the highway they tried to over take, I put the hammer down, they tried to catch me, but at 80, 90, 110, 115 its no match for the MCE. Finally we hit traffic, and they got ahead whatever, I downshifted and slowly past them at 4000ish rpm's, s/c whinning and remus announcing my presence - damn asians. The bad - While lat has proved you can swap speedo plates, I have now proved you can't swap tach plates, my tach is more or less useless, at idle it won't read anything, and takes 800 years to reach the correct rpm, even on the highway cruising at 80 it takes nearly 45 seconds for it to reach the correct rpm, then if you brake it takes forever to fall. It will have to be replaced. Also when first starting if I gave it maybe 30-40% throttle for a moment it would be like teh TCS came on, but once the ECU relearned everything and you could feel the shift points spot on this went away. The concerning - Although is has an optima red top my float charger never seems to get it fully charged, I connected it for a week and it did not reach green - I connected it after driving with battery fully charged and warm - even after a full night its still not green. That being said after the 100 mile drive I stopped and restarted the car several times to move it around up on ramps etc and so forth - it started every time with no problems - and when I first cranked it did not crank slow at all. Also what may be nothing, my speedo seems to be reading pretty damn high. When it feels like I might be going 45ish it says I'm going alittle over 60, and at 85 its like I'm doing 75. But I have never touched my speedo, and my comparison is my jeep which reads about 6% to slow from tire size, but still. I found a radar thing and when I was doing indicticted 40 it was reading 38/49 and the needle could isn't super exact, so it might just be a feeling. ///BHRpowered
There are no codes and everything (except tach) was functioning as it should the video was a cell phone camera, when I play it on my phone and on computer there is decent sound, but on youtube when uploaded it sucks...jackasses

Matt64341
The Millenia is most enjoyable in the cold.

enginph
incorrect, 50-75 degrees in the optimal millenia operation temp You will be surprised what it can do at 20F.
mts
Too cold is bad too.... I have had issues with solenoids and such freezing up at -30C and below.... various vehicles...
///BHRpowered
incorrect, there is a certain temp it excels at today it was 53 and overcast, so I drove the millenia, again about 38 miles, the odd thing is the tach is working slightly better, not great by any means, I'm just wondering if its recalibating or something also, hot damn is the millenia fast, drop into 3rd and cruise around 60ish, ever so soft a touch of the fun pedal and you've over taken 3 cars
Troutman
We never have serious ice or snow in this part of Victoria, so I say the colder the better. And yes, warming up is strictly by the book of course.
///BHRpowered
today it is cold and raining, the millenia shall not be exposed to this in anyway
ing-schu@online.no
Too cold is bad too.... I have had issues with solenoids and such freezing up at -30C and below.... various vehicles... Yup, sub -20C accellerates wear and issues. I hate to start the car sub -15C without the block heater. But of course, with the Castrol Magnatec and a couple of minutes idle before departure it is no problem, it just feels bad. On a related note, my battery now needs to be replaced after almost 10 years of service. It was no doubt the status as non daily runner that lead to it. I had two options: A. Exide Sønnak Super, 60 Ah, 390 cranking amperes, standard quality. Medium performance in tests. B Exide Sønnak Millennium, 65 Ah, 580 cranking amperes, high quality, awesome test results. Guess which one I chose in spite of 36% price difference Around $170 with a fairly good 30% discount.
///BHRpowered
My battery needs to be replaced, its fine for a day or so, but after that it loses alot of its charge and barely started the car, if it had been cold I doubt it would have started at all. Almost 5 years exactly...fuckers, I wanted

///BHRpowered
I have to check on it, I thought it was like 7. All I have is the original store receipt, I don't think I got any paper work with it that I did with my yellow top
Troutman
Bloody poop, and I just got a red top. I would have gotten over 10 years out of my Exide 550 on the Millenia I think. Then again, it sat on a charger most of its life...
///BHRpowered
what the fuck, so I called up optima to see what the warranty was because I thought it was like 7-8 years, and what the piss does this pooper shooter scoper tell me "its on the website" and what the fuck does the website say? apparently its ONLY 3 year replacement on redtop, and another 36 months of prorated, which means as of last monthI'm totally out. and it seems they changed everything, yellowtop is only a single year
Matt64341
That is insane, with the price they charge for those batteries they should have a much longer warranty. I just have a duralast gold battery from autozone which was about $80-85 if I remember right, 3 year free replacement and prorated to 8 years. I am sure that in many areas the Optima would outperform, but mine starts the car every day and can power the accessories by itself for a good amount of time without draining, and it was almost half the price. ///BHRpowered
I swear when I bought both of my optima's it was 86 months or something. One of the main reasons everyone bought optima's was how long they last. granted the one in the millenia doesn't ensure the greatest conditions for a battery but still. I had my 3 year old yellow top testd and they claimed it was "alittle weak" but its never once let me down., including not being used for 2-3 weeks at a time with no charger
