enginph
I replaced the tie rods and kept postponing the alignment for 2.5 months.I counted the turns between inner and outer tie rods and the car drivers perfectly straight. Even better than before. BUT guess what I saw today: Inner side of the treads are gone!! Both sides. Contemplating a new set of tires or putting them at the back for some more time.. ///BHRpowered
damn....just goes to show that every degree counts. Did you see any reduction in MPG?
enginph
damn....just goes to show that every degree counts. Did you see any reduction in MPG? Nope. Still around 22.
///BHRpowered
22.5? the fuck? I think the most i'v EVER gotton was 24, about 320 until I filled up or so. Usually since day 1 off the showroom floor I get 215-260 until light, and maybe 16-18mpg
enginph
I am between 20.5 to 24.5 depending on the conditions. I might get 25+ if I go to San Francisco or Vegas, straight roads. The speed limits here are high, 50-55 in city. So if I dont hit the lights I am always on 4th gear with TCC engaged.
///BHRpowered
still, never happens with me, generally I do drive with the windows down. Actually best ever was about 24-25mpg on the way to MWM07 in kentucky, windows up and a/c on low
latinopikachu
yea BHR I consistently get about 230-240 per tank

mts
I used to get 7.9 L/100km on a regular basis on long drives. You guys just are not equipped to drive those rates :lmao:
///BHRpowered
7.9L/100km means nothing to me
enginph
Yesterday I got 24.0 mpg (9.8L/100km) with the new tires, mixed driving. My fuel consumption might a lil lower but nothing visible. The new tires are 5lbs lighter per tire than yokohamas. I feel like I am on the air. ///BHRpowered
Anti google. But tire weight and tread does make a big difference. Jeep's tires are something like 20lbs heavier then stock (much bigger) and dropped mpg from around 17 to 14.
mts
7.9L/100km means nothing to me That's cuz you are "bubba" simple.

ing-schu@online.no
Not exactly. Anyway I get 6,9 l/100 km out of my KL. But that means staying below 100 km/h, no AC and obviously windows closed.
///BHRpowered
In the millenia I never noticed a big drain with the A/C on, during times when I drove with windows up and a/c on I did better MPG wise then my normal routine of front windows down and sunroof open (which is how I drive 90% of the time)
Troutman
Above 80 km/h, air con uses less fuel than open windows.
ing-schu@online.no
Yup. Plus the fact driving with open windows, even a slight glip, destroys every effort the engineers have done to reduce the noise level. Personally I hate driving with open windows unless speed is sub 30 mph. I do use the AC in eco mode when needed though. But that means the milage gets poorer of course. Like 5-10%, in my cars anyway.
