Troutman
BMW will expand its X model range in 2009 with its smallest luxury 4WD yet. The German car maker has released official photos and details of its new X1 in concept form ahead of its 2008 Paris motor show debut, though the production version will be near identical when it joins the X3, X5 and X6 in Australian showrooms next year. At 4457mm, the Concept X1 is not only 112mm shorter than the company’s X3 mid-size 4WD but also smaller than compact 4WDs such as the Subaru Forester and Honda CR-V. A 2760mm wheelbase, though, is relatively long – just 35mm shorter than the X3’s, which should provide the X1 with a spacious cabin. The styling incorporates BMW’s polarising convex and concave surface language and appears to blend silhouette cues from both the larger X3 and X5. The X1 also follows the new 7-Series with an enlarged version of BMW’s signature kidney grille, while the rear features L-shaped headlights that echo those on the recently facelifted 3-Series. SteveSter
UGLY, Im a big fan of BMW but the front looks like a Chevy Venture. They need to stop making so many models an go back to being the way BMW was 10 years ago. Makes them more exclusive.
