It is a 4-5 hour job for someone that has some mechanical background to swap out, but MAKE damn sure you label the lines that you pull off. The chasing the vacuum lines is a real PITA. The onset to S/C failure is rattling in the S/C bearings from trying to compress oil, lots of white smoke on starts that may or may not disappear, and if idling for long periods no power on take off, the same rattling as on start, and enormous white clouds that choke the person(s) behind you. Pull you front intercooler off, if you can our out oil... get ready by saving money.... ;) The loss of power is so gradual that you may not motice, until a working S/C is put in and your milly is back to full strength! (w00t) Fear not the S engine, for it is not that bad once the plastic cover comes off and you learn the engine!

From Mazda, I was quoted $2400 used, $3200 rebuilt and $6000 new. Canadian Superchargers said $2200 rebuilt. Those are all in Canadian dollars. I lucked into a good one on eBay for $300US. but usually go for up to $1000 or so on eBay.
