Hi,

I just bought a new car, a Mazda Xedos9 from 2001 Miller (http://www.autotrack.nl/car-img/of01/s096/of01_0005011896.jpg) It looks like that, but it has a face lift and headlightsprayers.

Furthermore it has solar panels on the roof, heated seats, automatically closing mirrors, leather seats, ...

I drove the car like 50km and I disliked it a lot. OK, it drives great and so, but it seems like kinda empty and the seats are no match to the alcantara interior I have in the old car. Its just A car without a soul, just some machinery in one piece (hope you understand me).

I want to sell my 1996 Xedos9 with a manual gearbox, but I don't know. My old car does have a soul and the new one doesn't. Should I keep the old one or the new one.

The old one has no A/C, no solar, no heated seats, ...

BUT is does have alacantara interior, cooled seats!, about 2000 euros in new parts, manual gearbox, :don:

I am so confused! the one with the soul is incomplete and the one without soul is complete.

please help :weirdo:

no a/c....is that possible

you have an EXTREMELY rare car

but to us that other is even more rare, the solar panels, and headlights sprayers? haven't seen those at all.

whatever you decide to do I would be interested in getting parts from either car, if you sell the 96 I call the trip computer

No it isn't. Solar sunroof IS extremely rare; I've seen it on ONE car in Germany during several years of searches for Xedos. That was a dark green 99 IIRC.

I find it hard to believe it has no AC as well. Shinta, you probably mean nonworking AC?

Trip computer is also rare, more so the newer the car is. Like, a 96 having one is more common than a 00.

But I doubt that a base 2,0 5-speed has a trip computer, Shinta?

Headlight washers are stock, at least here in Norway. Unfortunately they are slightly disguised by snow in my signature pic.

How in the world there is no AC in a xedos9?

Its better than you think.

You really don't need A/C here. Temperatures top @ 25°C, only extremely hot summers go up to 30°C.

When that happens, I switch the Air Cooling on (it works with water).

More than enough.

A/C really isn't needed...

This Xedos9 (1996) was a SPECIAL edition. In stead of adding stuff they removed stuff and the car was put on a diet. My car only weighs 1315kg in stead of 1450kg (normal).

It is a bit more faster, but to achieve that, they had to skip on stuff (A/C, 4WS, ...)

I wish to find ONE Xedos9 with a 2.3i who has everything (4WS, 2.3i, alacantara, klima, ...)

hope to find it, and hopefully I could fit a 6spd in it (if there is one).

Solar sunroof is like standard in xedos9.

actually, it is a option, but so many ppl have it, so it seems standard.

It is great, on hot days you can switch the fans on when gone and they will be powered by solar.

Or charge your battery. You wont be getting in a car pumped with hot steam!

Its not a base, its a special edition.

Its hard to find Xedos9 to begin with, and then to find one with solar panels, I agree, it IS difficult, but there are 3 I know of in belgium.

Me, Tertou and a guy in Schoten (name of town).

What is that? Regular fans? You may need defrost on the windshield, which requires AC. But its a good idea to get rid of AC. I am sure it is heavy enough.

That must indeed be a special edition, or rather Sub Base Edition. Way too special to be mentioned in any model overview. Can you explain to me how they managed to trim the weight downwards 1300 kgs? The lightest model is supposed to weigh in at around 1410kg. That means 5speed, no sunroof, no electrical seats but certainly AC. Which weighs maybe 20 kgs tops. 80 kgs left, might get there if removing the ENTIRE interior...

I don't know what you're smoking Shinta, but it must be good shit ;)

I've said before, the 929 had the solar sunroof on some models (relatively common here at the time) and may be fittable to a Eunie.

There is a switch for solar around seat heaters. You have to change the console trim as well. So list has at least: new sunroof glass, trunk fans, button, trim, lots of wire, maybe compatible AC amplifier and so on. Too much hassle IMO.

Whoa, I thought Milly's were better equipped than Xedos9's, but....

The Air cooler works with water. You have to pour water somewhere in the air-inlet or the car.

not in the engine section. It is on the right side of the right wiper. There is a plastic grill with a small cap in the middle. You have to pour cold water or ice in there. That goes downwards and it is like a "mini radiator". Air flows through it and it cold once past the "mini radiator".

So no AC, just 1kg water or ice.

Well, what I know is the following:

No A/C, special 5 spoke tires from Mazda (very light), no spare tire (some tire repair spray in stead), only 1 electric seat, alacantara in stead of leather, no fog lights (but some air ducts in stead) and a manual transmission.

Thats all I know about, even the Mazda resellers don't know much about it. They call it a standard car, but when they see the weight, then they get confused.

I don't wish to part the car out, I want to sell it completely and I will even let it be checked by the Belgian technical control team. I don't know if you have that in the states, but its a station where you have to go to every year to let your car get inspected. If it passes all European standards you get a green card and you may continue driving. but if it doesn't, you'll get a RED card and you have to repair it within 3weeks, or else your car will be failed and you won't be able to drive it on the roads anymore.

Euhm... I never mentioned trip computer, I know 2 Xedos9's in Belgium who have, but mine doesn't.

I might haven't explained correctly. My English is bad. Sorry

A pic of the water inlet would be nice.

I'm sure this chills the coupe just fine, for like 5 minutes.

actually it lasts 3 hours! Its ideal, you can take a small rest after 3 hours of driving and fill it again. I have a refrigirator in the back, so I can keep some cold water bottles.

I cannot upload pics to my pc (because I don't have a pc for the moment), you might find a pic of it on cardomain. Look for my name

fuck you mazda NA.

why the hell would you cut out so many options, I mean really - you claim they wouldn't have been in demand, yet every single millenia owner I'v ever met wants oh I don't know, ALL OF THEM

Thats why they couldnt sell. They try to sell a high end car like a 323. They dont have the mentality.

They even remove 5cent bulbs in some areas. How much would you make stealing a 5cent bulb in a $30k+ car?

I beg your pardon, but does NA mean North America?

I also don't know why they skipped on so many options, I always wanted to have as many as possible.

Yet the less options make the Xedos9 feel like a 626, but it drives better than a standard Xedos9.

It is really difficult to explain. Imagine you all drive Lamborghini's Gallardo's and I have a Lamborghini gallardo Superleggera. The extra light version.

I looked up your Cardomain site, and was amazed when I saw the heater controls in your Xedos. Certainly a primitive solution compared to the regular ACC unit. Never seen it before, this must be special for your country I guess. Never seen those wheels before either. Those options, or rather lack of options, are certainly not mentioned in neither my sales brochure (99-00 that is) nor the owners manual which is also 99-00. No offence Shinta, I found your story hard to believe but now it makes atleast some sense.

Though I must ask you to give me a break still; 0-100 in 8.9 seconds and 163mph in a 2,0 5-speed? According to factory those numbers are 10,3 and 127 mph... I admit the factory numbers for 0-100 must be recorded with a grandma behind the wheel but still...

Mazda NA would probably mean North America. Never mind, BHR probably reckons Belgium is somewhere in North America. He may have skipped some classes in geography :whistling:

Yep I know, lots of ppl didin't believe me, but it IS the truth!

8.9 is 8.7 by now, I have a video, but can't upload it cuz I have no PC. PM me next month to upload a vid for 0-100kmh. I'll have a pc till then hopefully. Top speed 247kmh (read by GPS), but unfortunately I won't be able to prove this one to you. We were just racing an Audi A8 in France. A8 in front and we in back.

Remember Mazda Millenia has drag of 0.29!!! So, we raced the pedal to the metal and around 7000rpm (RED AREA) and 260 on the speedometer, 247 on GPS a bang and swizzle sound from engine. We pulled over and noticed the radiator pipings blew. Duck taped it all and never raced again. Repair cost was around 270 euro! Some time later a pigeon drilled the radiator and once more......a big cost! Now I put a Mesh grill in front of radiator so nothing could possible reach radiator except air and flies.......and never raced again!

I am glad I survived, imagine a slight bump on the motorway and I was history.

I think I already have told you guys abt this event.....or maybe not?

Lovely car, great looks and still 9 years guarantee on rust (if sold in Benelux)!
