  1. It looks like this one will probably come up for vote after the November elections. It's time to write your local congress man or woman and tell them to vote this one down. A 1% tax could be levied against your deposits (direct, cash or check) as well as your ATM withdrawals. This 1% tax would also be looked at as a national sales tax as items your purchase would also be taxed. Sure, people making less than $250,000 would be able to receive a 1% tax credit - at tax time. However, why should I have to go through this process each and every time I go to the bank, make a purchase, etc. - only to wait a year to see my 1% credit? Now, folks, there's a reason why they're called Dummycrats.

    2/23/2010--Introduced.

Debt Free America Act - States as purposes of this Act the raising of sufficient revenue from a fee on transactions to eliminate the national debt within seven years and the phasing out of the individual income tax. Amends the Internal Revenue Code to impose a 1% fee, offset by a corresponding nonrefundable income tax credit, on transactions that use a payment instrument, including any check, cash, credit card, transfer of stock, bonds, or other financial instrument. Defines "transaction" to include retail and wholesale sales, purchases of intermediate goods, and financial and intangible transactions. Establishes in the legislative branch the Bipartisan Task Force for Responsible Fiscal Action to review the fiscal imbalance of the federal government and make recommendations to improve such imbalance. Provides for expedited consideration by Congress of Task Force recommendations. Repeals after 2017 the individual income tax, refundable and nonrefundable personal tax credits, and the alternative minimum tax (AMT) on individuals. Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to: (1) prioritize the repayment of the national debt to protect the fiscal stability of the United States; and (2) study and report to Congress on the implementation of this Act.

  2. Sadly, the bill passed and the effects are starting to take their death grip. However, it will be a few years before all gets implemented. Take for example, the "new" tax that will come into play in 2013. All real estate sales will be subject to a 3.8% tax.

Now, how the hell does that relate to healthcare? Further more, why did anyone vote for this P.O.S. bill with all the "pork" that's built into it? As it is, the real estate sector is hobbling on one leg right now. Are they trying to kick that final leg off so the stool will fall completely to the ground?

Open your wallets, people. It's about to get fun ... real fun!

  3. Agreed, I think a lot of the GOP followers are heavily into religion. I'll say it again, I'm agnostic. However, I'm not stupid.

If you have a budget of $100 to spend for a month, yet your expenses equal $140, you're $40 short, right? So, you borrow the $40 from the Chinese each month to cover the "gap" between your income and your expenses. Now, is this a sensible way to live? Hell no!

However, it's a way that the Democrats think we can live. I'm more of an independent, too. But, I highly support those candidates who are fiscally conservative. I also support the candidates who are hopefully going to spend my hard-earned tax dollars wisely - and not create all these charity and Demfare programs to provide hand-outs for those who don't care to earn an honest living.

That's my take on the whole thing. I don't think my view is distorted in any way. Just contains a lot of simple common sense - which is highly lacking in a lot of individuals nowadays.

  4. What is it with Nappy-Haired Ghetto Rats? Do they think the only way they'll be able to keep their umbilical cord connected to ObamaCare is if they destroy political signs of the Republican party?

Just like two years ago, Hope and Change are coming. They better HOPE someone will hire them when their Demfare gets cut off and CHANGE will come in the method of them having to get a job. No more drinking those 40 Oz. malt liquors anymore.

Besides, what will they do when their aging spokesmen - Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton die off? Who'll step forward and speak up for the poor brother living in da hood?

  5. How's your banking and foreclosure rates? Stupendous I see.

Funny though, whenever the US Navy needs a command platform for a NATO operation, it is a Canadian vessel. Yeah y'all have the toys, but not many have the IQ to use them.

I would rather pay some taxes than be hated around the world. AT least I can proudly fly my flag around the world without being afraid. And don't worry, thanks to many years over corruption at the top of the government in the US .... your taxes will exceed ours.

What would life be without risks? Sure, if we didn't take risks like the Canadians, we'd have lower foreclosure rates, probably less bank failures and be liked by the rest of the world. However, I don't think being liked by the rest of the world is our priority right now.

Just because Canada is "liked" by the world right now doesn't pre-empt them from a terrorist strike. It could happen at any time. Isn't England also liked? They're attacked by terrorists.

Now, back to keeping this thread on topic. You're the one who took it off topic by bringing up Bush's war and our "broke-ass" dollar. We're discussing the increase in medical premium rates because of ObamaCare. I don't expect to resolve all of the issues of the U.S. in this thread. However, I would like to keep it on topic and related to health care premium increases that are hurting many of us in the U.S. at the moment and in the coming year.

    Thank you.

  6. Why hasn't that 85 year old ex-President passed onto the afterlife yet? Everything that comes out of his mouth is totally embarrasing. He wasn't a good President when he was in office and he's no good for our country now - no matter how good he thinks he is.

He should put 100% of his efforts into running Habitat for Humanity - not trying to make peace with other world leaders who are not in the mood to make peace.

  7. Wait until your taxes double, due to Bush's War and your broke ass dollar ;)

You know, there's one thing I adore about America. We're not afraid to kick some ass when it comes to crap in other countries. It certainly beats turning the blind eye and ignoring a situation.

Read up a bit on Mark Steyn. The next country to go down the crapper will be Europe and the issues it will face with Islam.

Edit: It wasn't Bush that made our budget deficit swell to $13+ Trillion dollars. It was Obama's programs to revive our economy that failed ... even after investing mega-bucks into many areas, like: the Homebuyer's credit, the Cash for Clunkers program and many other failed Government programs. I guess if we see our taxes double with a broke-ass dollar and several socialized programs sponsored by the Government, that about puts us on par with Canada, right?

  8. Since the first "wave" of ObamaCare will start to take place on our medical plans effective January 1st, 2011, many companies are starting to publish their premiums. Yes, premiums are rising once again this coming year. This time though, there are going to be some surprises as the increases might be larger than the past several years. Somewhere in the range of 10 - 25% is what I'm starting to see.

    Don't you just love it?

Look, I'm a conservative. I don't really have a church affiliation - you'd probably be able to classify me as agnostic. However, I'm not stupid. It will be interesting to see how many Democrats step up to vote for their party that they're so loyal to even though ObamaCare is going to be raping their wallets in the coming year.

  9. They are in the winter position... lift up on yours and they will click into place like that too.

Thanks for the information. After having mine for 8 years, I didn't realize this was an option.

    2. Replacing an Audi is the ultimate sentiment to get a Millenia; so much it would justify a donation.

Amen, to that. I almost bought an VW with the 1.8T ... until I realized the "sludge" issues that can occur with the oil pump screen getting clogged up; then to learn that VW will gladly sell you a "revised" oil pump that doesn't have that issue for $700+. Ouch!!

  10. I'm also about 15 miles, the question is are you also considering it?

pristine is relative. You have not seen my millenia. Original owner, driven no more then 900 miles per year, always garage, never driven in rain or snow or from nov-march. Always kept inside a carcapsule.

No, I can't spring for it at this time. We just bought a new vehicle 3 months ago. I've got to hold onto my current Miillenia for at least a few more years. By then, I'll probably have 170,000 miles on it.

  11. Should try sonata.

I did - I rented one for about 4 days a month ago. I wasn't too impressed with the base 4 cylinder - too "buzzy" as it would accelerate and shift. I liked the computer readouts and calculations for gas mileage, time spent with the car running, etc.

Ideally, I'd just hold out for the rear-wheel drive V8 Genesis. Oh yeah, Baby! $30,000 for a used one right now is still a lil' steep for what I'm willing to spend.

  12. God damn it, you people know how I feel about this ignorant ghetto rats who claim a millenia is fully loaded.

Fully loaded = having all the options

Its NOT, its more or less a standard S.

My Millenia is fully loaded. Every god damn ad I see "fully loaded" really fucker? does it have the winter package? do you ever have the factory spoiler, hell do you ever even have the factory cd changer, how many people have even seen it its so rare? do you have the bose test disc? I have everything, everything and everything.

Could you tell us how you really feel? :D

  13. ///BHRpowered,

I saw a new, grey Mazda 2 on the Brown's Fairfax lot yesterday. It looks like there's about 9" of room between the rear door seam and the back of the car. If someone rear ends you in the Mazda 2, the rear passengers are going to get one hell of a wedgie. Hopefully, they don't get any more injuries - but, it just looks like an accident waiting to happen. I know I'd be paranoid to have any passengers riding in my backseat on the Mazda 2. If anything happened to them, I'd suffer the guilt for the rest of my life, because it was my decision to buy the car.

  14. I'm going to restore the ME wheels and temporarily retire the 1995s.

I've kind of forgotten how to shop for tyres since the last time I did was in 2006, I plan to use tirerack.com since they were excellent last time. I want something wider than stock and slightly lower profile.... stock is 215 50 17 right??? BHR what kind of tyres do you have? Fat Man, I remember you having, well, fat tyres  that you said would tramline. :HMMM: i await input

I think the next time I will go with kumho platinum grand touring tires. They are very comfy and silent tires. Performance tires are noisy and harsh. I will buy wider ones so hopefully they will compensate for the lost braking distance a bit.

Some people find local shops that match tirerack prices.

You're not lying there regarding the performance tires. We had some Dunlops on the car and they were horrible, when it came to road noise. Fortunately, they wore prematurely and also started to crack on the inner sidewall. We ended up getting most of our money back from Dunlop on the warranty and jumped back to Kumho. The Kumhos did their thing - nice, nearly silent, but the shop I worked through was horrible at alignments. I made it about 2 years on the Kumhos. With my wallet being a bit thin, I actually went shopping on Craigslist. I found 4 Michelin MXV4s (P205/55/16) for $150 for the set with 90%+ of the tread remaining. The guy I bought them from pulled them off his Benz to have custom wheels installed and couldn't use the Michelins any more.

I wouldn't just buy used from anyone. This deal for me was the real deal. The guy's Benz looked pristine - even though it was a wagon. I was very happy with the deal and the tires ride nice, too.
