Good example....however, water is made up of what we have "named" and have "determined" to be two Hydrogen and one Oxygen. This is the basic flaw of human thought and philosophy. We interpret things as we see them, whether they are reality or not. The realm of human understanding expands all the time, all the while undermining what we thought we knew. The world was once flat, the sun and stars revolved around the earth, global warming is caused by green house gases.....all scientifc fact by the standards of those who developed the ideas...all proven wrong over time.

Remember you are only talking about the speed of light so you have to look at it in that context.
True, which basically throws all scientific theory out the window...because there is zero scientific fact.

You should read up on quantum physics and how it can nearly prove that alternate dimensions exist.

Actually, I think the FJ looks pretty sweet. I might check it out for Shits and giggles but I would imagine it's too small for my everyday use....

Trout, there is something wrong with your car....I think perhaps the steerwheel is on the wrong side...additionally, it looks as if the plastic under the front bumper is chewed up....

It is all about look, as with any spoiler that is stuck on a truck lid by the manufacturer or other. The provide little or NO downforce, nor does the driver ever excede the limits of the tires and road where downforce is an issue. Therefore they are cosmetic and trivial.
Perhaps even less trivial than you mentioned, considering the mojority of Honda's, Toyotas, American cars, and even the Millenia are FWD....even if the spoiler had an effet, it would not be a good one. Let's see, buy the three foot aluminum spoiler, mount it to the trunk to keep that rear end down......wait, that will lift the front end up.....

Why did you sell the X5?
Good question, I'm not really sure....My initial reason was that it was my wifes car, and she is 5'2 and small (not anorexic thin but thin...no muscle). She has a hard time getting things in and out and she didn't want to have to lift th new baby and his car seat in and out all the time....I love buying cars, we go through two new cars every 12-18 months so we were due for something else. Her "lifting" issue was my justification, but after selling the X5, and still having not bought a car to replace my A4, I wonder why I didn't keep the X5 for myself and just buyer her a new car (we got her an A6 anyone, it could have replaced my A4 and I could have kept the X5). Instead, we got the A6, and now we're looking for an SUV for me.
I miss my X5 badly....but with the new body style coming out I wouldn't have kept it much longer anyway.

We sold our X5 a couple weeks ago, and I'm looking for a replacement SUV. What do you guys think of the current LX 470? Anyone heard if they will be doing a body change soon?

Global warming is very real....however, just as BHR stated it is a natural event. There is NO SUCH THING as global warming caused by greenhouse gases....it almost seems that many people and many scientist are not aware that rational life existed before our time....
If people really want to know about how "global warming" REALLY works, they need only google marine climatology
This is complicated but the short version is as follows.
FACT: the air temperature in 100% of the world is controlled or "moderated" by the ocean.
FACT: the ocean is not warmed by the overlying air temperature.
FACT: the ocean is warmed by radiant energy, ie. by sunlight and infrared radiation (greenhouse gases ie. water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane etc).
FACT: Sunlight heats the top 100 meters of the ocean, afterwhich there is zero warming effect from sunlight.
FACT: Infrared radiation (those evil greenhouse gases) penetrates only a few millimeters of the ocean.
FACT: Evaporation effects the top CENTIMETERS of the ocean, thus whatever infrared radiation is traped within the ocean as a result of greenhouse gases soon disapates leaving zero impact on the worlds climate.
CONCLUSION. Greehouse gases (many of which are manmade) have zero effect on ocean temperature, which directly controls air temperatures around the world. Any an all warming that we experience is a direct result of the Sun's penatration of the ocean, which means, we can't do shit about it. We could get into Thermohaline circulation and anamolous heat traped in different layers of the ocean's but that is complicated and would be better saved for your own reading.
I think everyone can acknowledge that the earth is warming, but to blame it on human interference is complete ignorance. Any scientist that has any knowledge of how climate works knows the basics of marine climatology, and therefore does not support the idea of greenhouse gas caused warming. If what I wrote has zero wieght to anyone, please feel free to research marine climatology and it's effect on global warming.

I was at my dealer last week and the official photos weren't out yet.....however, they must be now!...www.bmwusa.com has some good photos! I think the new one looks great!!!!!
As for the car trout posted, the shape and size is X3 looking but the headlights are off the 5 series. BMW might put 5 series lights on the X5...but never the X3....good photoshop job though.

2000 MY - 2003 MY is pre face lift....2004MY - Current post face lift....there are many differences between the current car and the prior....many improvments including the motor from the 7 (more power, variable timing etc). The new car will be out this fall, as far as I know BMW has NOT released and official photo, therefore until that time everything is simply a spy photo, or photoshop as far as I'm concerned...but then again, I'm no authority.

I currently have a Jamis.....Frame is Dragon, but I peiced it together....ALL XT components and a 4 year old RS SID fork....Sun Rims Rhino wheels...xt hubs. Like it alot. About 4 years old now..havn't ridden since last year though.

He is a product of what humans believe to be scientific fact, which is the point I was illuding too. The evolution of concepts being enhanced and refined (as you stated it), clearly indicates that the concept wasn't actually a fact if it indeed had to be refined. There is a whole wealth of knowledge that we, as a race cannot nearly comprehend, let alone phathom. It goes beyond the evolution of understanding and begs to answer what we are really capable of.
