most auto parts stores have it, sometimes in grocery stores. if not at your local auto store then it can always be found online, its like 5 bucks for a huge can

soo my O2 sensor doesnt need to be replaced?
-
1170 is heated oxygen sensor, and 0170 is fuel delivery. They may be related.
so any thoughts on what needs to be done?
-
ok just got back in from autzone...they rechecked my cel and its now just throwing 2 codes instead of the intial 5...the codes thrown are P1170 and P0170...any insight?
-
i mean from the obvious new intake hose i have noticed a few changes it drives better and my CEL is on but not flashing but something is still wrong ill go get the codes pulled and let u guys know!

P5000: De Javu
The cars pcm doesn't 'look' for problems, or remember past ones. If the cel comes on, then there's a problem (right now). The pcm only relays the message that there is a problem.
what was told by me is that the problem was fixed but i shouldnt expect to be able to leave the shop and go to a emissions place and pass...so therefore i should drive around some and test the fix and the Cel may or may not come back on.....he said that the car might recognize that its not fixed and throw a CEL but after a while it will find the fix and eventually turn off..
-
i got my car back the mechanic said i had ad really bad busted leak in my air intake which was throwing the codes...so he fixed that and cleared the codes...but as i was going down the highway my cel came back on...he said he cleared them but car thinks the problem still exisits...is that true...he also said when he did the OBD he never got the EGR P0400 codes...so i dunno this sound bout right...the car runs much better though
-
would that be expensive?
-
so would fixing the vak leak...would that be replacing all the hoses or what all goes into fixing it?
-
what kind of test can they administer to see if its a vak leak or should a good mechanic know from the codes being thrown from the OBD?.
PS....my car was giving the EGR MAF code b4 it started throwing the vacuum leak code so which one would be the culprit to the problem?
-
OK...that really makes sense..so when i take it to the shop should i emphasize on the vacuum problem...or the egr?
-
why is this car so damn complicated...nice to look at but hell to fix
-
your talking about my intake hose right? actually im far south in GA but thanks for the offer...as for that p1170 im still lost..what was broke and what got fixed without me knowing?
-
a solid state CEL means you need to get the problem looked it, a flashing CEL means get the hell off the road and have it fixed right away
ok im just gonna lube up and go to mazda for the rapping...Thanks guys
-
Your fuel trim and egr are vacuum controlled, that eliminates 3 codes. Random misfire can definitely be attributed to an egr that's open when it's not supposed to be, that's 4 down. And for number 5, I don't know what that code is, and don't feel like looking. Someone post what it is.
what do you mean its controlled...what needs to be dont to fix these?
-
that crack will prolly be the reason why ur acceleration is hesitant. i had the same shit too and after being replaced, my acceleration was back
where can i find a a new one for cheap and is it hard to put on or do i need a pro to do it? anyone else have any thought for those other codes?
-
take it to a mech and atleast get the codes pulled... bring them back here and renboy will let u know
Codes From autozone
p0170
p0173
p0300
p0400
p1170
damn this doesnt look good!
[ipdate] i just took a look at my air intake hose and it has a pretty good sized crack in it. if that helps]
-
true but is there anyway to rule out wat the problem is...without gettin raped by mazda for them to find the problem and then fix it...?
-
Maybe.
Can I go ahead and assume that the flashing CEL is a direct result of my P0400 or could something else be attributing to it..does the flashing mean theres another code too or the one code you have has gotten worse? whats the best way to check if its a vac leak? im going to get my codes repulled..

In my 2000 L my sunglass holder cracked and broke off. It can fixed with some glue its just hard to glue upside down..I was wondering is there a way to take off that piece so that I can take it and replace and try to fix?
