  1. Went for a *Reference banned from MW* run on my day off, and got hit with rough idle on start up. CEL lit up about 5 minutes later. I checked the vacuum lines, solenoids were just replaced. Removed the the spark plugs, and 2/6 plugs were swimming in oil. Judging from the looks of the plug wells I've got leaks from the vcg. I need some suggestions on a quality vcg and silicon.

Secondary question, what are the chances my plugs are done for after getting fouled?

Tertiary question, what are the chances the fouled plugs have taken out one of the coil packs?

  2. Brake indicators started squeakin back in January, I've got 4 rotors on the way. After a lot of research, it seems that normal ass rotors are the way to go. Ordered from R1 concepts, and took the zinc coating option. I'm ordering PBR metal masters for the front and deluxe for the rear.

I also noticed over the winter than the aero paint on the calipers failed :violent: . I've got rust spots showing through, gonna throw on another coat. Toying with the idea of going with SS brakelines if they are still available from Stillen.

  3. Done. I ended up cutting some sheetmetal from around the factory sub opening, making a bracket to mount underneath, and mounting the 12" to the bracket. VERY nice low end response at the expense of db. As i figured, i'm getting some rattles now from the rear deck lid. Gomma have to get some foam tape to get rid of it. Pics tommorow.

  4. It's a problem of a high voltage signal going into a low level reciever (bose amp). Eventually the caps in the amp will overheat and fail. It's either replace the speakers, bypass the Bose and use power from the headunit, or keep the entire Bose system with a Bose adapter and aftermarket headunit. In my experience, the adapters don't always do a good job of matching the voltage correctly.

  5. Uneven pavement with jersey barriers on both sides was definately not fun after a tall sam adams and no food all day.

Yea, this year has taken a toll on the car. They've been expanding the lanes here for my city and the city i work in. I should put my complaining abilities to good use and send the cities an invoice for wear and tear. My tax money at work creating higher personal costs for myself.

  6. I was reviewing my mod list the other night and thought about the suspension. I've noticed that the millenia is not as responsive or have as much road feel as a year ago. Anyone have any input besides that below?

    Replace shocks

    Replace and regrease bar bushings

    Check/replace bar end links

    Replace spring seats

    Possible urethane filling

  7. I got it, it works great, it was the antenae wire thing that need to be hooked up because it acts as the amp for the speakers...

One last thing what would be a good set of speakers for it?

:noidea: Something doesn't sound right here, unless the 00 and older Millys had a ground seperate from the main radio harness. If the system energized with an antenna touching the radio chassis, a ground isn't connected, and the radio is grounding to the mounting point for the antenna. If this is the case, the FM tuner on the stereo is going to slowly die out. Make sure that small antenna you are talking about connects to chassis ground on the other end. The smaller diameter antenna lead is part of the diversity antenna built into the rear window.

Looks awesome btw. If any of these headunit manufacturers would start making decent SQ double din units again I'd probably get one. Your lucky now if they even include a 3 band EQ, much less electronic crossovers.

  8. Well, the howard stern second in command might be leaving sirius. Bubba's agent is so far unsuccessful in negotiating a contract with the beancounters at channel 101.

As for the merger itself, it's taking longer than most telecom mergers have taken 5 fold. The DOJ and FCC have still yet to make a ruling. It's starting to smell like a powerplay by those in Washington that support limited free speech and conservative fundamentalist backing. Pretty sad considering that both XM and Sirius have channel blocking. Both companies are raking themselves over the coals to trump each other, almost to the point of collapsing the industry. One argument is that a single provider represents a monopoly. The counter argument is that satellite is a pay service, with multiple avenues for recieving over the air entertainment. Howard has said he believes that the NAB has been running a successful lobbying campaign. Traditional FM broadcasters have suffered a major loss in ad revenue with the popularity of downloadable media and satellite. Makes sense. Both companies may be short lived if the process is delayed or is denied.
