Thanks Xedosman.
And yes...my owner's manual is crap. As the car was never intended for the portuguese market (mazda sold it on a order only basis) there is no portuguese manual, mine is in german! Unglaublich! So it might as well be in chinese to me! I have managed to download the millenia 2000 manual and the service manual for the xedos 9 . I would be more than gratefull if you could point me to where you bought yours, provided it is in english.
As for the alarm...it works ok. The horn sounds and the blinbers do blink. It's that part of locking itself if none of the doors are opened in 30 secs and the horn confirmation on double tapping the remote that do not work (but then...i only readabout those functions on the millenia).

Don't you ever think about trading your wife for Lat, BAD idea
Your trunk seems familiar, but your light cover seems to be missing. I believe I can see the light there without the cover. I'll take a pic of my light.
Your tire supplier is correct, they are classy lightweight wheels but too small to give the right stance. I just got hold of some Borbet CC7x16" rims and put Nokian 205/60 tires on them, looks good in my opinion. But way heavier for sure.
No lamp at all just the metal connector where it is supossed to be - shoot me but i thought the trunk had no light at all , however checking my german manual in the lamp section , there it was a perfect picture of whats missing : lamp and cover!

Latino:
Ur so bossy i'll probably wanna trade my wife for you!
Here they are:
P.S. to me earlier post:
Forgot to mention that the system does not rearm itself in 30 secs (waited like 3 minutes) upon unlocking the door with the remote and not opening any door. Another problem guys?

Ok guys, detailing is postponed for the next week (too many cars in line). However i have some news about fuel consumption: it dropped to 11,4 L/ 100 km in the last 100 km on the same city driving conditions. The only thing that changed was the tyres...mmmmmm. . Confirm that grip is ok and confort is TOP with these tyres (not defending michelin..but its a fact). However i had no noise with me bridgestone turanza on the audi aswell, just to cool BH down a bit!
Problems: tried the keyfob test, worked ok...but no horn signaling. The blinkers do their job when opening and closing doors, but other than the sound of the doors locking and opening : zilch! Also pressing the lock button twice does not make the horn sound. Guess im paying the dealer a visit
Another thing: the car is in a very good shape, but i've found that it was neglected and forgotten in some ways. I have no trunk ligh and that area is simply "underessed". I am a bit worried bout getting what's missing, will it be hard to find/order (Xedosman ur my resource here in Europe...helppppppppppppp!)!
Last: was thinking about changing my rims along with the new set of tyres. Big mistake, said the owner of the tyre shop! He picked up the xedos rim and just said to me: " man..these are a beauty, very light, very well made, no aftermarket rim can beat this quality, plz don't trade them". I started to love my rims immediately!
The rims are very dirty (mainly brakepad dust "corrosion" and i just picked up a parcel wit some detailing products : among them Einszett Wheel Cleaner (the non acid USA version).
Some pics of the "problems":
Rim looking ugly
Original Keyfob
Trunk :(
City driving : drop in 1L per 100/km
...in the last 133 km
Energy saver?
MMmmm.. WTF is that in my trunk? Ronaldo wants to leave Man Utd and pack it to Real Madrid? That lad is ungrateful!
Ok...thats it for now: need some .....helppppppppppppppppp!

save gas, bah.
Burn it all, I'll stick with my potenza. Grip and performance over long life and money saving.
My concern was not saving fuel BUT these Michelin (or any other brand) with silica component maintain the grip, the wet performance...and are supposed to save up to 5% in fuel. The key factor to me was the silence on Highway..no rolling noise at all.
-
Ok..new tyres = 495 Euros...Michelin Energy Saver stock tyres. Very smooth ride! The marshal tyres are gone with my Audi A4!
Soon: Full detailing!
P.S. The car is something else. Every single person and mechanic in the tyre shop went bezerk! Need the best in my Xedos!!!!!
-
Oh...Btw: just found out (my car came with a german manual) that if you press the retract button with ignition turned off as soon as you start the car mirrors retract or (if retracted) go into drive position.
-
hmm, I thought they would go a bit slower. only time I could see a use for this is in the garage.
I wonder if all I would have to do is get the mirrors and put a switch in??
In most european cities (downtown) streets are narrow and with lots of parallel parking, rectractible mirrors are a must in big cars.
-
Im just sad that i have a mutant hybrid...NOT!!!!!
-
Oh...and here's mine (made with the crappy cell phone):
-
I'm gonna have the car detailed (outside...inside..engine..the works!). As i don't have the knowledge to do it a friend of mine will do the job. Usually he shoots an entire photo session with before and after the detailing . Will post as soon as possible sir!

I don't think the S has a valvecover gasket problem. It is supposed to be popped off every 54k miles to verify and if necessary adjust valve clearance. And what oil you use has nothing to do with gasket seepage unless we're talking straight 50 which I hope you don't use.
I don't buy high milage oils hype, not to mention longlife oil hype. I'll just stick to the oil I've always used, and pour in some Omega 917 sealer treatment every once in a while. Took care of my slight bluesmoke on startup a couple of years ago, still good.
Sorry Cuto, off topic
Off topic???? Whereee? Where? Ok...city consumption : 12.5 L /100 Km...guess thats not too bad uh?
It should be hot in there? In a hot climate and not climbs its not too good. The last time i got was 19.5mpg (12L/100km) with some highway, mostly city and lots of climbs and red light stops (from 100km/hr).. It was 3 tank average. You should clean the engine and shift to full sythetic. Mazda is idiot in recommending regular oil. Supercharged cars use synthetic.
My oil pan has some leak from one corner after i shifted to synthetic, no VCG leaks and its holding the oil better after the second synthetic oil change. (Cuto my car is in 180,000 kms)
Its not hot at all, around 23º Celsius. Mind that the 12,5 L /100 km was achieved only in city driving, with 20 mins or so of rush hour traffic in between. Also i think the oil mazda used is the same they use on Mazda 6. Dexelia 5W30 is synthetic.

Why swap to a lower quality at a certain milage?
Of course other brands than Castrol are availible here. But when I was recommended to swap to Castrol GTX 3 to limitate oil consumption in my 82 929, and it actually worked (pre 84 Mazda engines weared well but were prone to burn oil), I've used it ever since, more than 20 years. And I have never had any engine fail on me. My lawnmover is probably close to 30 years old and still running strong, on Castrol. My oldest engine was built in 1944, also runs on- guess what? I'm not saying it is the best oil, but good enough for me.
This is how clean the Magnatec keeps my engine: http://www.mazdaworld.net/forums/index.php...ic=2764&hl=
Just checked the oil the dealer was using: it's "Mazda's" Dexelia 5W30 and the changes are to be made every 10. 000 KM.
More on this Oil here http://www.oil-shop-uk.co.uk/acatalog/Dexelia.html
But i guess i'll make a change for magnatec. However Castrol site points me to Magnatec 5W30 (same thing Xedosman is using). But only if i use castrol european sites...in USA it points me to GTX 3 5W30.

Do you guys think front i/c was taken out before? The clamps are supposed to be underneath right? I wonder why would they work on the engine in a 30k-km milly.
Actually my brothers car had a similar story. The prev owner was an old man, a company owner or something. My bro was pushing him to sell the car to him. He told my bro he would sell the car anybody except him The car stayed in mazda dealer for more than a year. But since my bro is close friend with the guys in the dealer they kept the car out of sight, never washed it. It was a dirty forgotten car with a big price tag for more than a year. Nobody bought it. He could buy the car after the guy died.
Dunno about the IC: as far as i know (by checking both service book and service history in Mazda database) the car had 3 oil changes (should have had 7, one per year) and had a small paint job in the rear fender. Only defects i find are from not being driven as often as it should be. The spare tyre and rim are in immaculate condition, that tyre was never used. I spent the day in a nearby city and every Merc , Audi or Beemer owners had to turn their heads . Amazing exclusivity i have!!!!!!

Yes, it is green ( a light green...will try to get the code from...mmmmmmmm...really dunno!...Helppppp).
I bet your color code is 15X, named Mid green and found in the passenger door opening on a white label
Indeed it is Oh Master!

Welcome. First time i saw a 2.3 xedos. No sign of miller cycle engine in the exterior? As far as i can see mazda only changed the engine (and tranny) between 2.5 and 2.3 xedos, no visible changes? Hard to tell whether its a 2.3 or 2.5 from outside.
Is it green?
EU loves green then, my brothers is green, xedosman has green now you have green
Yes, it is green ( a light green...will try to get the code from...mmmmmmmm...really dunno!...Helppppp).
And yes...i've seen a picture of a portuguese 2.5 Xedos 9 and from the outside you can't tell the difference. But under the hood it's a whole new world. Oh yea..the Super charger makes a wonderful noise!
@Xedosman: gonna try and make a worthy photo session as soon as i have the car detailed as deserved.
Im loving it. My audi has been reprogramed and pulls 170 bhp and 360 NM of torque, mighty power on low revs. Never tought the Xedos would have such a kick down power!!! I'm still getting used to the Auto tranny...but loving the car more....more....andddddddd moreeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Ok...here are some ugly pics just taken with my cell phone (wife does not like the color):
Comments welcomed!
My Audi and the Xedos 9!
-
i demand information about this engineer, was he a member of the millenia team
Don't think so! He was (is) a portuguese engineer that was interested in buying the car for himself. Other than that i know nothing about the dude.
-
Your car belongs in a museum! Be sure to take good care of it. Amazing history.
Promise you'll NEVER sell it without letting me know, ok?
Promised! But i will also promise i'm gonna ask you lots of stuff!
Sad thing: this one doesnt have the Bose sound, as it has the single din radio (some crappy - i'm guessing -kenwood detachable radio). Thinking of an Avic nav system as a major improvement.
-
I believe there are 2 or 3 Miller Cycles in Norway, that's a crowd compared to the portugese population
But who bought such a car and hardly drove it at all? Truly amazing.
Yes it is amazing: the car was bought back in November 2000 by some company that went bakrupt a couple of monyhs later. That same company had a total of 15.000 Euros of debt to a Mazda dealer. Solution: Mazda took the Xedos back for the total debt . After that the car was only driven by the owner of that particular Mazda dealer on few ocasions (remember that they have lots of diesel service cars, hence the low mileage).
Also, a cousin of mine works at that dealer and was the person that originally sold the car. I had full access to service history on Mazda computers databases. That even worries me because since 2006 the car made only 1.000 miles.
High gasoline price, a market targeted for diesels and a very high depreciation of the Xedos, made the dealer drop the price from 20.000 to 8.000 Euros in just 2 years (this price is retail only...the car was not on sale to the general public). The best offer another mazda dealer made was 5.000 Euros, as the car is almost in new condition, the asking price stood on 8.000 Euros.
Funny thing is i called that cousin in order to buy an automatic little city car for my wife, thats when he told me that the only one he had was a "great BIG car" that my wife would not handle in a typicall portuguese city with almost none parking space. I became curious and by the time the international Automobile Salon ended a couple of weeks ago in Lisbon, i was told that a mazda engineer had asked for the car. I had to make a move...so i bought it, but not before inpecting the car and driving it. It took only a few miles to know that it had to be mine.
Hope to report back soon with some pics!

it is a car unmatched, but did you aqquire a standard 2.5, or the supercharged S
Bummer...i forgot that "detail": it is the 2.3 SC Automatic (more bhp and less fuel!)
And i really think it is the only Miller cycle here in Portugal (as far as Mazda tells me there are only 4 Xedos 9 and the other 3 are 2.5..! BTW...the car arrives tomorrow!
Welcome!!!
Did you get the tow package? Xedosman can give you tips and advice.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. No tow package on mine, in fact i have a tow package on my Audi A4 and never used it.
Best of : After selling my 2002 A4 for about $28.000 (18.000 Euros) and paying the Xedos i'll have about $16.000 dollars (10.000 Euros) left for GAS or a new car for my woman (so that she stops cursing me)

Hello guys!
I am very angry at you all! By reading this forum i just bought me a 2000 Xedos 9 (milly)!!!
I am portuguese and i must say i had never heard of this car, let alone seen one. So, a Mazda dealer had this BIG car with lots of looks...i tottaly fell in love with it and altough the gas price here is about 1,45 Euros /liter i made a run for it and bought it for 8.000 Euros.
The car is only 33.000 Km and looks real nice. I count on you all to give me some help as i go along...if you don't, i'll sue your asses coz you made me discover this beauty!
P.S. If i don't make it here again...it's coz my wife killed me...im dropping an audi for this one!
Hope I'm Doing The Right Thing!

Mmmmm...what do you mean by rare? Doenst every Xedos/millenia have the board computer????
The keyfob is in fact different then what i have seen on the net (ebay). But the design is the same as the pictures in my owners manual.
As for your last question: wanna buy mine? (nooooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy)
