  1. My Xedos needs new rear discs, and the AC a tuneup. Part from that, running smoother than ever at 237k km. Needs some sandblasting and paint around the edges in the rear though.

The black 5-speed has recieved no TLC so far, but main thing is she is under my wings. At 150k km she should still have a lot to give and is running strong. I seriously believe these cars were built to be used on a regular basis.

  2. I'll part with my Milly when I part with this world..........

    That's the spirit

I can shell out like $6k annually on maintenance and repairs on the Xedos and the Bimmer, and still save money compared to the depreciation on a new Volkswagen Golf. Concidering the fact I'd rather be linked to a wheelchair than driving a Golf, not to mention being seen in one, makes the choice really easy. Even the Bimmer is reliable enough to make me save money. Plus enjoy two premium cars, albeit slightly aging.

  3. Sad but true: car is now dead. It was burning bout 2 litres of oil each 1000 kms. Cat just blew on me. RIP. Its Ford Ecoboost time.

Sorry to hear, cuto. If you should choose to part her out, I also seem to need a new AC control unit. I can't adjust the cabin temperature with the wheel knob unless it is colder than -15C outside. Slight disadvantage, though 21,5 C works reasonably well throughout the year. I also need to replace the powered antenna.

  4. Update: I got 4 issues, of which two of them need to be confirmed by the shop after repair. I need to replace the front left lateral link, as expected. And adjust the e-brake lever due to too many clicks :D

Piece of cake in other words. I got two "1" issues, which means they shoud be fixed but no reinspection; the exhaust leak and the bad CV boot. Not too bad on a 12 year old car, inspected in "as is" condition.

Now I'll just await the overseas part supply :shifty:

  5. My state inspection is due tomorrow, and I guess I will get a "2" on the exhaust leak, which means it has to be fixed (by me in this case) and then confirmed as ok by the shop performing the test. As opposed to "3" which means driving is prohibited untill it is fixed. The emission test itself is probably not affected. State inspections here can be performed either by the authorities or by dealers or shops with permission to perform inspections. I prefer using a local shop.

  6. Update: The weird sound is diagnozed, finally

I've just kept driving as I said. During this winter the sound got worse and continous. Last night I refitted the factory suspension for state inspection, and looked her over. I found a busted axle boot, inner passenger. Not relevant for the sound, but my first axle issue @ 220k km.

Now to the weird sound issue; it turned out to be an exhaust leak between the front header and the downpipe. Dealer fuckup; they dropped the exhaust to fit the block heater. I bet they didn't fit new gaskets. So I ordered new gaskets today.

Never trust dealers... I'm pleased the weird issue turned to be an easy fix though.

  7. Hmm... Hopefully your additive package will keep the addictive engine running a good while longer :)

I use Omega 917 to keep the valveseals soft in my 2,5. I'm at 220k km and have a minor startup smoke, hardly visible in the mirror, rather when watching someone drive off.

As years go by, most of us will accept some minor flaws I guess. I'm experiencing a slight knock in my front left lateral link now, changed the right one a couple of years ago. Part from the knock sensor, discs and pads and a new battery, just about the only issue so far :)

  8.

giving away? but you paid money for them? never give something away, ever.

Also not sure about US, but we do have a problem where different brands have different ideas about sizing

Admittedly I've lost like 12 pounds since the meet, but the fit was definitely not the same as euro Levi's in the same size. I reckoned the 501 was a worldwide fit. So yup; I gave them away :D

  9. At MWM07 xedos went to I believe a target along the route, picked up 10 pairs of jeans for 25 dollars or something, thought it wasthe greatest thing ever

Well, I did buy some Levi's jeans; the price was ok at sub $30 each but it turned out the US fit must have been some sort of a Fatboy Edition; I ended up giving them to charity eventually.
