The engine must have been run on really bad oil previously for that to happen. I doubt it. Who'd put really bad oil in that engine?
I'm not a fan of engine flushes though, for that very reason.
And just for the record, a knock isn't uncovered by better oil. If it happened, it was caused by gunk clogging an oil passage, most likely to one conrod bearing. Thus you may say that they ruined your engine with their choice of oil. You may need a lawyer
I still doubt it though, for the sake of my 100 euros
-
Did they (Mazda) perform an engine flush or do they claim new oil equals flush?
-
If its the engine...BHR will be getting the dashboard i guess...coz its scrapyard.
Im in a bad mood.
Cheer up! I've not read this entire whored out thread, but I'm with Saint on this one. Are you sure they actually changed the hydraulic tensioner, and not just the tensioner pulley? If a misfire is present, it should cause a code.
As for engine damage causing a knock, as in conrod issue;
1. Did your engine ever suffer from oil starvation?
2. Did your engine ever suffer from overheating and/or very low coolant level?
3. Did you severely neglect oil change intervals?
4. Did you on a daily basis thrash your car, even with a cold engine?
If your answer to those questions is no I have no further questions. These are tough engines. Supercharger failure- possibly. Engine internal damage- I bet you 100 euros it isn't IF your answer to the questions above is no.
And just for the record- worst case scenario; I don't think your car is a partout object sir. I'll buy her.

The hood is the same, there are cutouts for the IC ducts.
According to Renboy the SC is the same all years, part from a pipe for one connecting hose pointing in another direction. Easy fix.
Goliath, the 2,3 isn't smaller on the outside. It has a smaller bore, probably for political reasons. It was above all designed as an environmentally friendly engine remember, the extra power is sort of the bonus.
Surely the 2,5 would have been beefy enough to cope with the supercharging too, if given the forged pistons and stronger conrods like the 2,3. But in general downsized bore gives more strength due to increased cylinder thickness.

Ok, thanks anyway. I may follow cutos route; for now I've simply disconnected it. It can be drawn up and down by hand without much force, guess that means the internal wire or whatever moves it snapped. The sound is nasty, like some gears are cogging over. Or maybe it is a security feature to save the motor from getting burned? Never had issues with it before part from obviously the regular winter problems with stuck antenna some inches above retract position. Lubing up with keylock oil usually have cured this.
-
Yes, it has a rear swaybar. Bolts to your Milly.
My antenna has started grinding its gears. Would you be able to help me out if it is still there?
-
The alarm would be like a faint noise compared to the horror scream from the perpetraytor, facing the treatment from my baseball bat.
-
Haha, nope
But I'm glad my Xedos only reminds me if I forget to turn off the headlights, not all kinds of other stuff.
-
Thankfully my Xedos is trained to shut the fuck up.
-
Any updates on this one?
-
Your conclusion makes sense.
-
Most parts will fit. Some exhaust parts will not, for example the downpipes have no precats on the Xedos, and the ECU is probably different. There are also some interior parts that differ, like steering wheel and seat heating switches. The remote is also different, as well as the bootlid locking system (remote opener instead of lock pushbutton).
Mainly regular maintenance parts like suspension parts, axles, wheel bearings, brake parts, tranny and engine parts, filters and belts fits. What you'll need to order parts is a Millenia VIN #.

We drive mainly on twolane roads. That means increased wear on the right tires because the car leans slightly to the right during most of the driving. I'm not a fan of Nascar racing. As I've tried to point out, it is a well known issue here that right tires wear more. The fact that left turns feel less uncomfortable adds up.
-
I've probably grown a habit of driving harder in left turns than right turns, leading to 15% different wear. I want everyone who have a problem with that to stand forward.
-
Congrats!
-
Exactly. My granny don't drive either.
-
Not unlikely, combined with his granny driving.
-
Why don't you just shut your mouth emo boy. I've had this issue on all my cars since 1982. Funny how all of them should have alignment issues huh? I've had the alignment adjusted on several of them too, when needed. But not on the Xedos, because she has had no issues. Yet.
I bet RHD cars wear the left side tires more than the right unless, again, the driver is a granny or drives like one. Us LHD drivers simply drive harder in lefties because it is less uncomfortable than right turns. Simple as that. I'm not exactly a novice behind the wheel you know. How often do you skid sideways on dry tarmac? Been there done that, even with the 235s
-
Unlike you I drive enough to VERIFY my tires wear evenly. The right tires always wear more than the left though; lefties tend to be taken at higher speeds. This applies to most drivers unless they always drive like grannies.
-
My tires wear evenly, my Xedos goes straight as a zeppeliner even with 235s and I see no reason why I should have an alignment.
I did have one on the 6 though, because I demand perfection.
-
My Xedos has had a total of zero alignments done and runs without issues. Concidering one once the coilovers are installed and suspension bushings are checked though.
Task, you say you set your camber, was that a proper 4wheel alignment or what?
-
Saint, wonder if that Hyundai was 1st off the line?
Trout, I realize that I still haven't quite gotten over that you sold her.
A Holden huh?
-
Do you have the springs or is it the grass effect that makes it look lower. 235 huh? Pretty wide but I can see why you need them in Norway.
Stock springs, rear sagging abit. I would have had 215/50 tires if availible. But the 235s are good, no tramlining either.

A pic of my Xedos with the new wheels, 235/45 17s on 7 inch 43 offset rims
Knocking Sound...again.

I should think the Dexelia is a decent quality oil.
