Best/recommend Oil Filters

Figured I'd start a fresh new thread on the OIL Filters that we can use on these Millys, since there's been so much information within a bunch of different lengthy threads, and many of the filters can no longer be found. I'm going to be changing my oil this weekend to the Royal Purple synthetic 10W30, along with switching to a larger Oil Filter. (since I've finally solved my oil leaking problem by using the right Silicone sealant on my valve cover gasket!)

I found the Fram "3985" and the Purolator "L14619" today at PepBoys no problem, they had a bunch in stock....I picked up the Purolator one for now..

 

I haven't found the K&N (HP-2007) or the Mobile1 (M1-2007) yet, but I only searched two pep boys so far, I will check Napa and Autozone today since both are mentioned as suppliers for them....I think I'd prefer the Mobile 1 over the Purolator, so I will try to find it...

 

Anyone have any other good recommendations??

 

 

Good work, now we know we can use larger filters again, The M1-207 and M1-105 are gone (discontinued, I have searched every autoparts store in Miami) and those were bigger as well as the K&N ones that were the same size. I will look into the ones you say are larger to see if I can find any. Dont get Fram though, they suck. WIX is a good brand to look for if you cant find the Mobil1 or K&N filters.

Yeah, I remember someone else saying in one of those threads that FRAMS suck..so I picked that one up and put it right back down! but I carried it around to at least verify the same size as the Purolator...I have a Napa on my way home, so I'm going to swing in and see what they have...

 

But the cross-reference book that hangs at Pepboys (for looking up air filters, oil filters, etc) had the Purolators, Frams, PureOnes, AC Delco, and a couple others in there for the Corvette ZR-1...

 

I remember Renboy said recently he gets the ZR-1 filters at Napa (I think he was referencing the Mobile M1-207 when he said that? not totally sure)...but I'm going to see what Napa and Autozone have...

 

I'd like the K&N over the purolator if the Mobile1 can't be found...although their website still lists it for the ZR-1 filter, so I'd think it's still available...maybe just from internet somewhere...

 

 

As long as you are using an oil filter that uses synthetic filter media you are good, but not oil filters are the same. Alot of them are highly flow restrictive. Mobil1 and K&N filters are made by Champion Labs which performed the best in test.
