Actually after studying the vacuum and intake drawings... there wasn't a lack of oil problem as much as there was a lack of operation of the ABV. Which was under pressuring the S/C and likely causing the noise. I believe it was cavitation of the S/C due to lack of back pressure supplied by the engine... constant bypass mode.By the valve not functioning. My BAD. BUT I will say that if it was trying to pump oil ,as you diagnosed, there WOULD be smoke. Anyway, his S/C noise is gone, which ultimately may save the S/C, now wiring needs to be checked...
