dwmcqueen
My steering, at start-up seems sticky. Once the cars warms up a bit, the steering is okay. Is the pump failing or is there another reason?
///BHRpowered
The pump is driven by the serpentine belt, it may just be dirty fluid, or low fluid. People have have replaced there pumps usually report them going around 150k. If the fluid is good and it still steers I wouldn't worry about it right now, but it might go in the next 15k or so. speaking of which, I think either late this week or sometime mid next week it will be time to fire up my millenia's powerplant and let it emerge from winter slumber. dwmcqueen
Fluid looks fine - belt looks a bit worn..that is a project this weekend...
///BHRpowered
if the belt has cracks in it, or its been 60k its probably time for a change. It might also simply be loose at startup and not spinning the pump at full force.
enginph
What car?? When i changed my original serpentines at 108k nothing has changed except some squeaky noise..
dwmcqueen
Well, I took off my passenger splash guard and think I see the issue. The inner CV boot cracked and that grease is everywhere - belts, tensioner, etc. I'll replace the inner boot, clean up the tensioner and pulley, put a new belt on and should be as good as new. ///BHRpowered
I will be very upset if mine ever break, upon last inspection they were flawless.
dwmcqueen
Your CV boots? Both my inner ones have issues, albeit just barely on the driver's side. Passenger side one is gone... That's how I got the car...
///BHRpowered
Mine are fine, and I dread having to do anything with them, damn grease. My millenia is only driven about 800 miles a year, the rest of the time kept inside a carcapsule, inside a climate controlled garage.
