erniegram
has anyone ever paint chrome rims because i have a set of 20s and i just recently hit a pothole and did some damage to the lip of the rims. I was gonna go with on of the mobile wheel repair guys around my way and have him fix the lip of the rims and the paint the lip of the rims the same color as my car. I want to be a lil different than other people.
///BHRpowered
I hate chrome 20's have no place near a millenia but to answer your question, I haven't seen people paint over chrome, but on the jeep forums there are a decent number of people who strip the paint off and go solid black with decent results, so it can be done. You'll have to sand off all the old chrome, get it smooth, then prime it well and do a few coats of whatever paint you can get to match
ing-schu@online.no
I wouldn't go as far as sanding OFF the chrome (very steep, not to say impossible task), but certainly sand it with 240 paper to ensure the paint doesn't peel off again. Then spray it with a good primer, whatever color paint and preferably a layer or two of clearcoat. Good luck!
