Ikstej24
Here is a picture of my ride before the Millenia and the company car that I drive today. This is the first time I have shown this picture. I was the last picture I took of my 96 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 that I had owned for years. Moral of the story....don't hit 3 foot wide pine trees at 50 mph. The good news...I walked away unhurt. Jeeps are built very well.
///BHRpowered
rsutton - would you be interested in adding another jeep? why have a brillant looking millenia if you have to take it out in the rain
Ikstej24
I have an Excursion for that now....I just hate paying for the gas in it. If I get another Jeep it will be a Hemi I think. That was my second one. The one before it was a lifted Wrangler that I had all kinds of custom stuff done too.
///BHRpowered
so why not get a 4.0 grand cherokee
Ikstej24
Because I like having 8 cylinders...higher towing capacity and better bottom end. As nice as yours is, I really don't need a 3rd car right now.
mts
You like the gas guzzlers.... get a diesel if you like bottom end torque and towing
Ikstej24
What do you think the Excursion is..... Unfortunantly Jeeps don't come in diesel but the Toureg has a mean diesel in it.
///BHRpowered
psh, my new grand cherokee is plenty powerful for towing, I even apply dash protectant to the mighty class 4 hitch receiver and braking inputs
Ikstej24
It's not quite enough to tow 12,000 lbs or more with. I had a trailer that held 3 jet skis (two sea doo gtx's and a kawasaki 750sxi pro) that loaded it down a good bit. I don't even know that kind of stuff is there in the Excursion. ///BHRpowered
its rated for 9500lbs, well mine is, the base model 6 cyl 4x2 are something like 2500
mts
Even the VW Touareg has 7700lbs... so not much to brag about...
///BHRpowered
thats hte high end model
mts
Which costs the same as a loaded Grand....
///BHRpowered
true, but I thought you mean't the base model grand and that the ultra base model vq could do 7700. on a related note, not only is my jeep going to a good home, but the new owner (who gave me a 2000 deposit to hold it until next weekend) also owns a yahama 1000cc sportbike which he wants to tow with the car, AND he has a 1974 porsche 914 he has already restored mechanical
mts
Very good home to be sending the Jeep too....
///BHRpowered
indeed, and best of all he has had jeeps before and knows several people with over 300k on there 4.0 grand cherokee's. Apparently he had been looking for 1 like mine for quite some time. I knew it was going to a good home when he said "the color reminds me slightly of the old military jeeps, but modernized" which is EXACTLY the reason I wanted that color and body package
mts
Reason being it is an inline 6... the best engine design for longevity. V's are weaker by design, although more compact.
///BHRpowered
agreed, but even you must admit, the jeep 4.0 engine is possibly one of the best designed, and most reliable engines in existance. I mena its been used in almsot every jeep for 30 some years
Ikstej24
I put over 205,000 miles on the 5.2 V8 before I totalled it.
///BHRpowered
indeed, jeeps are designed to go the distance. I'am sad to see my jeep go, part of me truely wanted to drive it until the engine itself cracked in half at 1.75 million miles
mts
Any inline engine... the Ford 4.9L, the Chev 250CI (shared block with Toyota for Landcruisers), the BMW 2.5L, Volkswagen 1.6L, 1.8L (4 cyls).... the list is tremendous. Mercedes even had a strong runner in the 240s I believe.
