mts
Mazda recalls 12,000 over bad airbags Mazda Motor announced Thursday that it will recall more than 12,000 vehicles from the Japanese domestic market to replace faulty airbags. The recall covers the JDM Premacy, Atenza and Ixion models (branded as Fords in Japan) manufactured between March 1999 and July 2002. Three accidents have apparently been attributed to the faulty airbags, which can abruptly open. Not a very fun surprise. About 19,000 of the affected vehicles were sold in export markets during the period, but the company has yet to issue a recall overseas. The Premacy and Ixion are known in North America as the Mazda5, while the Atenza is marketed as the Mazda6.

Arsonist
It would suck to have the airbags pop for no reason.... tell me about it, the airbag light in my millenia has been flashing and i fucking hate it

Arsonist
I rather think of it that if I get into an accident, the airbag won't deploy...which isn't as bad as it deploying suddenly.
mts
I rather get into one without it, all of the accidents I had in the past were in cars without. But to get it in the face while driving, for no reason...

Arsonist
If they changed the clockspring inside the steering wheel, I'll fucking take my millenia to a demolition derby circuit.
MazdaMomma
What does the clockspring do?
Arsonist
It's some sort of a dynamo that generates power for some internal circuitry that controls airbags, horn and cruise control functions.
