Jdubs99
I remembering seeing something a couple years ago about someone stealing the remotes that can control traffic lights and selling them on ebay. I really wasn't sure they existed until today. I was sitting at a red light, light turned green. I start to go, and all the sudden the light went to yellow for about 1 second, and back to red. An ambulance, no lights or siren, suddenly made the turn from my left to go straight. Kind of pissed me off they would abuse that in a non-emergency situation, but damn do I want one now. ///BHRpowered
jdubs..and others. I actually posted a thread on this years ago in the pissbucket. They have existed forabout 20 years, HOWEVER, the ones on ebay DO NOT WORK. And actually, even the ones that do work do not work everywhere. Basically they are devices used by fire and rescue only (no police) when approaching a traffic light they hit a button, which sends a signal to the light and sets it into emergancy response, it will turn red until about 2 seconds after the signal is out of range (meaning the firetruck has well past it) Now the catch it that for these to work the stoplights must have the proper equitment installed, and moreover then that, it usually varies from city to city, county to county so they no one person can drive across the us changing lights. Up until about 4 years ago these were only installed in traffic lights near firestations on main roads, but in order to drive down the cost for departments there has been a growing concept of semi universal systems Basically, all stop lights produced from 2005 on have the technology installed, BUT, are set to a certain radio fhz which is only handed out to those who need it. basically its technology retrofitted from garage door openers, except alot of fire personal have a control. the aftermarket ones may work once in awhile, but very rarely...unless you could crack the code, and even then, as soon as you drive out of your area its useless
