///BHRpowered
Drivers side window noise makes an almost nails on chalkboard sound when going down, but silent when going up. I'm sure it just needs some grease but anyone have any experience with where? Seems odd to only do it while going down
mts
Not really.... more load on the dry old seals when dragging down. Header should read.... BHR makes noise when going down. Ask Lat
Troutman
If you don't fart then you don't need to put the window down. There are lubricating products available which you'd put on the glass, otherwise it will probably get scratched or possibly damage the tint. Latino would know more... ///BHRpowered
If I spray some WD-40 in the channel its good for a few times, but not so much after that, would perfer to put some litho grease on to keep it nice and smooth forever Also its NOT the window seals, which are still like new. It's more of a mechanical sound
enginph
I have some noise from inside the door. Couldnt find the source, something inside. It makes it on rough roads..
///BHRpowered
Over bumps I had some noises. One turned out to be something in glovebox, another was cd case bouncing up against plate holder in side arm compartment. The window noise is just annoying but Im more worried about it wearing something out long term. Will try to get a video
///BHRpowered
Video added. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NusZg-tboQM Of course this is the before, I seem to have fixed about 90% of it. It wasn't pretty either. Basically I removed door panel to change out speaker anyway, then took a paper towel and removed as much grease on the slide track as I could, then using gloves smeared a generous helping of litho-grease onto the track. After which I rolled window up and down with cable passing through fingers with more grease. End result is the window def moves up and down a bit faster and quieter
latinopikachu
the G'old Beast had that EXACT little chingy-chingy-chingy sound with window rolling down. that is a heartbreaking sound to hear as I have not heard it in years. it's partly that and i think the regultor maybe needs oil
///BHRpowered
The motor could use a bit I'm sure, but with the process outlined above it made a HUGE difference. Runs alot smoother, faster, and quieter. Wasn't all that much grease in there from factory an what was left had sort of slide down. just make sure to jam alot into the side channels and run get the cable really well. enginph
So the question is why didnt they put an auto up switch?
///BHRpowered
Very few cars have an auto-up feature, infact most didn't even start seeing it until 2006 or later. Personally I think both front windows should have auto down, and atleast driver should have auto up
mts
From the driver's seat... all should be auto up and down.

From the driver's seat... all should be auto up and down. And the sunroof too..
///BHRpowered
Jeep has auto open/shut sunroof, very nice. I'm actually thinking about doing the same thing to pass side just to keep it in good order
enginph
Jeep has auto open/shut sunroof, very nice. I'm actually thinking about doing the same thing to pass side just to keep it in good order How do you put the door trim back? I think I broke some clip at the bottom of the trim now it is not totally in place.
///BHRpowered
I bought a bag of replacement clips years ago, use them on all my cars. Bottom trim isn't that important. To get it back on basically roll window down, remove side pillar thing (mirror access screws) hang panel on then push down. Once in place you should just be able to pop it all back into place. Oh and it heklps if you pull out the panel for the door lock then replace later. Also make sure to replace the 2 screws in the armrest compartment, they seem to do the most in terms of holding the panel on tight
enginph
I think I never replaced that clip. Should I remove the whole thing and replace with a new clip?
///BHRpowered
Don't have to, you can buy a bag of like 100 for 5-8 bucks. I keep some on hand because I know the clips will break
///BHRpowered
ok seriously WTF, it was silent for a day and now the sound is back. I know there is plenty of grease on the track and its NOT the seals.

///BHRpowered
It would be a massive massive pain to remove the entire window regulator assembly, but at this point I just might.
enginph
Its because of years of abuse in that car capsule. Drive the car open the windows and you wont have any problems.
///BHRpowered
Oh how mistaken you are, infact if you knew BHR you would know that I almost never use the A/C. I know exactly what its from, those first 4 years of ownership putting the window up and down over and over for that damn gate code. On a related note, I spent about 8 hours working on the millenia today. Rear brakes are complete but that god damn wiring problem remains. latinopikachu
From the driver's seat... all should be auto up and down. has anyone ever thought of a mod to harvest three other driver switches and put them in if they fit lol.. i was going to
///BHRpowered
It would be nice, but I think you need a new relay. If you could do JUST the switches it would be cool, but doubt it would work
