Renboy Posted March 1, 2007 Report Share Posted March 1, 2007 I think I read BMW's have them rebuilt. They cut it open, remove the contaminated honeycomb, install a new one and weld it shut. I'm not sure how exactly this is cheaper than buying a new one, but I've never had to buy a BMW cat. I think it's easier to throw it in a vat, pour some acid on it, and heat it up for a few hours.
