bennerz
If I want to buy some piping and a muffler and give the milly a new exhaust, what pipes am I going to need to buy?
///BHRpowered
usually you just buy a muffler, maybe a high flow cat, and then go to an exhaust shop, they'll have the piping and have to custom bend it and weld it.
bennerz
alright thanks, and I would probably want to go with the remus twin angled right? would I also be okay with just getting the muffler if I want to save some money, or do I have to buy the whole system? thanks
SteveSter
Do you have the 2.5 or the S? If you have the 2.5 I would just keep the 2.25 inch piping and put a muffler. If you have an S I would really consider a high flow cat with a 2.5inch inlet and outlet cat, you can leave the resonator or have a highflow one put in and then get a Remus or like MTS, a Magnaflow. bennerz
I have an S, so I would probably want to get the whole deal?
ChiTown
I have an S, so I would probably want to get the whole deal? the remus is a beautiful choice but costly, you can save a few hundred if you go with a borla or magnaflow.... ///BHRpowered
yeah yeah, you can get a magnaflow or borla for 100ish and a remus will cost you around 420ish shipped, but worth it with an S you don't have you get new piping, you can just slap on any universa muffler, but if ypu want performance then go with a high flow cat and 2.5" piping from the cat back
excluesiveonez
fxck remus... get a magnaflow or borla and... the savings in the price of the can, u can get a shop the do the whole cat back/header back instead!
mts
Or for $1500 do the full system with headers...
///BHRpowered
mts is correct, however you will need a good exhaust shop to be able to modify the headers, any old grease monkey won't do it or won't do it right
bennerz
Or for $1500 do the full system with headers... If only I had money
mts
A very good shop is needed.... and I know one here
bennerz
what would be a good magnaflow muffler?
///BHRpowered
a remus one if you go flowmaster get a 70 series magnaflow and borla, all pretty much the same
mts
Remus is expensive for no reason... Flowmaster does NOT come polished. Magnaflow are not all the same... some are much louder than others, they need baffled resonators.
///BHRpowered
engineering and quality, plus there made in austria the flow master on my jeep was clean, but not exactly polished when I got it, now its just plain dirty from mud and coal trails. mts
SO the price reflects the shipping? Stainless is stainless, priced by weight... straight through muffler does not require superb amounts of engineering, I bet even the Remus would not be smooth sounding on my new free flow system... a baffled resonator is required... Are you admitting that offshore (Austrian) might actually be better engineering than US? Because that is what I get from your comment... MAGNAFLOW THE WIDE OPEN PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE MagnaFlow Performance mufflers are 100% polished stainless steel and lap-joint welded for solid construction and rugged reliability even in the most extreme conditions. They feature a free-flowing, straight-through perforated stainless steel core, stainless mesh wrap and acoustical fiber fill to deliver that smooth, deep tone. Mufflers are packed tight with this acoustical material unlike some others' products to ensure long life and no sound degradation over time. Backed by a Lifetime Warranty.[/b] Remus website sucks ass! Couldn't find anything worth reading...
street3890
I have a 99 s and it has chitowns intake and i got a remus muffler with 2.5" piping and resonator deleted. Sounds amazing, check out my vids on youtube.
mts
Ah... but I now have headers, highflow cat, and a highflow resonator...
///BHRpowered
it would be much smoother mts, thats what remus is. and its not a straight through design. american mufflers are designed to be loud, not actually do a whole lot on the inside with certain levels. you might as well slap on a cherry bomb

ing-schu@online.no
Good question. Did you try a search through say Borla or Magnaflow websites? Anyway the welds on MTS's exhaust wasn't exactly suited to rest the eyes on
mts
After one winter.... who cares what the welds look like
ing-schu@online.no
Of course I'm not saying it was a bad job for longevity, but my pro as in offshore certified welding friend would not have been overly impressed
