///BHRpowered
browsing superlumination and came across these. Now I have the 16 led 7440/7443 designs, but has anyone tried these yet, I mean its double the number of leds, and there around the sides so there functional. mohamedeladawy@hotmail.com
where would this go? *sorry, im an LED noob.*
mts
For us with the 2000s it would go in the high mount rear brake light.
///BHRpowered
camel, there is already an excellent tower design for the 1156/1157 in the 95-00 lenses. although its not 32 super-flux led's. I await j's response as I believe these were what he got
Troutman
Whilst I can't comment from direct experience, we have agreed many times that comparing flux type LEDs with a higher number of 5mm LEDs is difficult. One of the dimmest bulbs I tried had a massive 48 LEDs... but all were 3mm.
///BHRpowered
I feel that I will hae to take the plunge. I may order the white reverse ones first since I need those anyway
Troutman
BH, how could you miss this? I have found high power bulbs are fine for reverse, as they are not on for very long periods.
DoN_BLaZe34
are those 921's??
Troutman
Whoops, I thought we were talking about 7440/3. There is no suitable high power 921 at this time, unless you count the high power 194 tower.
DoN_BLaZe34
oh...so those are 7440/3's..
Troutman
Correct. As brake lights they MIGHT be OK, but one must remember they get very hot if left on, so would realistically die within several months.
DoN_BLaZe34
i remember when i had the high power 194's in my 3rd brake light...one died in a few months....i've since stopped using leds...until a stable, efficient and bright bulb comes along
Troutman
Very understandable. I still consider high power bulbs for indicators reliable - because they are never constantly on, the heat does not damage them.
Jallan
Very understandable. I still consider high power bulbs for indicators reliable - because they are never constantly on, the heat does not damage them. Which is why I opted for the V-LED's 3-1W leds as opposed to the autoluminations 1-3W led, even though the autolumination one has the better flux radials. I'm hoping that 3 seperate 1W will dissipate heat better.
Troutman
Hmmm that's interesting... you could say that the large heatsink on the new model is the ultimate indictment of the original 1 x 3w.
Jallan
Indeed, sir, that heatsink is impressive. I actually debated these two designs (to myself, how sad) and opted for the V-LED for these reasons: The heatsink would probably show up red in the clear turn housing (not my personal preference) The heatsink makes the overall bulb longer (I think) and possibly reduces the reflective ability of the signal housing since the 3W is probably closer to the lens and less side light is reflected off of the signal housing. The 3W probably has a much smaller pinpoint of light (albeit very bright) and the 3 1W would produce the same amount of light with a better dispersion. I don't know if any of what I just typed is accurate, and I have no sample to compare it to, but that is what was going through my cranial cavity at the time of purchase
Troutman
I seem to recall the 3 x 1w-LED were always advertised as beign 180 degree, whereas the 1 x 3w was originally advertised as narrower angle, which they seem to have changed. I have the 3 x 1w Velocity bulb as my reversing lights in the 500 - no regrets at all.
///BHRpowered
trout, the bulbs you posted, in the 7440/3, whilethey are high power, the 32 led ones I posted contain more leds and better spread and would be better suited for brake lights with constant heat in mind, however, do you believe these low number led high powered toweres would output the 32led towers in turn signals? At night I do not how a problem, but I would like to increase my daytime output
DoN_BLaZe34
the damn towers were not bright at all...
///BHRpowered
don, which towers do you speak of?
DoN_BLaZe34
the ones i bought from warden..the original towers
Synesthesia
I have been impressed with the tower 1 design, certainly a massive improvement over the older 12 top 6 side design

Troutman
I too am waiting - it's not just about the money, but I CBF pulling apart my stop lights etc each time they introduce an incremental improvement...
DoN_BLaZe34
exactly...of all the 7440/7443's and 1156/7's out right now, which do you consider the brightest trout?
