bennerz
I'm trying to install the chitown intake on my milly today, but I can't get the damn driver's side wheel off. I jacked up the car, removed the lug nuts, but it won't budge no matter how hard I pull. I'm getting pretty pissed off and I don't know what else I can do. any ideas? mts
Once all the nuts are off... make sure you have a jack stand under the car... and give the bottom of the wheel a good kick... usually works for me.
SteveSter
I usually just take all the bolts off but the top one, leave it loose, then raise the car and I use a tube to get some leverage put it under the tire and on the tire at an angle and I kick the tube instead. Its worked for me.
///BHRpowered
a couple good kicks around the wheel should listen it, some people like to hit it outward with a hammer (tire only, not rim)
SteveSter
loosen* BHR I think thats what you meant.
///BHRpowered
actually I like to yell at it first, hasn't gotton a wheel or rotor off yet though

enginph
I thought loosening all and shake the car a bit before jacking up works. It might be dangerous, idk.
///BHRpowered
ren described this method before, though I don't recommend it, there is no excuse for not being able to get it out without some work. Rotors are far worse
mts
If Ren described it, it is much better than anything BHR would attempt.... I would kill any tire shop that tried to knock my wheel off with a hammer on the rubber.... bad mojo.... as the drooling idiot operating the hammer is 90% sure to hit your rim. ///BHRpowered
his approach was to put the wheel on and the lugnuts fairly loose, not even entirely screwed down, then gun it and hit the brakes hard. You can try it, but I wouldn't do it.
mts
MEH.... not coming off... nuts are still there. Trouble with that theory is you will damage the threads on the studs. What I hated was my BMW had bolts and not studs... made placing the wheel a 3 hand operation...
bennerz
well I tried knocking around the edges and it didn't work, so I had to resort to rolling back and forth a few feet with loose lug nuts and it came right off. pics of the milly should be coming today! enginph
Do the air tools have a torque setting or should the wheels always be tightened with torque wrench?
mts
There are torque specs for wheel bolts... NEVER trust an impact gun like loser mechanics use... they are ONLY for removing unless you have the proper torque bars.
///BHRpowered
what I about mechs is they use an impact wrench to put the bolts on, but then check them with a tq wrench and its already way over

I can promise you that the guys changing the tires at any automotive place, especially sears or whereever are not mechanics, just hourly grease monekys

SteveSter
Mechanics= Grease Monkeys, Steven= future ASE Certified Autmotive Technician. Mechanics are just part replacers, nothing more. They dont have the skills to really diagnose a problem.

Frankzao
Hey Steve, do they have a reference for a muffler bearing in that book? I've heard of ASE mechanics trying to change one before. What about a piston return spring?
