AngelOfDeath
Ok well since 2 days ago, my milly is making a squeaking sound/whinning sound from my passanger side back wheel. I went to Tires Plus to get an oil change and I mention it to them that somewhere on the passanger sound I am hearing it. I go bakc and they said nothing is wrong and there is not brake problems. What could this be??? It's alot worse when I am turning the car. Ideas anyone?
///BHRpowered
I'm not sure what effect turning would have since the wheels do not turn, but I certainly would have said to check the brakes first. Does the sound go away slightly when your on the brakes?
AngelOfDeath
not really it happens when I drive 1. really slow 2. press on my brakes 3. turning. The brakes should be fine thought. Tires Plus checked them " your brakes are good, nothing wrong with them." So I am lost what it could be
Synesthesia
hmm, I would say a cv joint, but you say its coming from the rear....
mts
Maybe a bad wheel bearing? Allowing the hub to shift when turning and the brakes coming into contact and squealing? Did they rotate your wheels? Maybe the guard on the brakes is too close to the disk?
AngelOfDeath
they did rotate my tires but the sound was there before they did that. It's not as bad as before. "Maybe the guard on the brakes is too close to the disk?" how would I tell about this??
mts
Jack up the car, take the wheel off and check it. spinning the disk to see if the noise is made.
ing-schu@online.no
Might be gravel (small rocks) stuck between disc and splashguard, caliper or pads. Or simply the wear indicators. I'd also check the handbrake liners, might not clear the drums due to partially stuck wires or mechanism. MTS suggested the right method to find it if that's the case. Wheel bearings usually makes a grinding noise most evident inside the car while driving, often hard to spot which wheel, up front in particular. MazdaMomma
That kind of squeeling noise on mine was the brake shield. It was bent. I replaced it for like $40. Dealer installed cause I didn't know how.
