cuto
Ok...so you all know about my quest for that center console that had cracked wood on my Xedos. You also remember that i had a friend trying to fix that ruined console....well...it's done! After having some of his employees trying to craft that console and not seeing results, that good friend of mine (a very talented carpenter) had to show them how things get done. Today he presented me the rebulit console. In mohagany wood as original. So, from a cracked one to a aluminium replacemente one...to the old one in it's glory. And, must i say, the one i won from ebay (a millenia one) seems like a hoax. After paying the console, the seller unregistered ebay and does not answer any emails. I am on the vege of disputing that over Paypal. If any of you guys know someone in trouble for a REAL wood dash recovery...i know the man! Better..he offered himself to make a ALL wood console if needed. Some pics , some of them posted before: Different Stages, gotta love the greatest band of all times: RUSH. Cracked version, that led me almost to tears... Replacement one. The Rebuilt one just after my dear friend had given it to me, after a good lunch at his farm house! BHR: the car is a complete mess i know. But i had to share this with you guys right away! Tomorrow is cleaning time!
Matt64341
That looks fantastic! Mine has been stripped and painted and it looks okay now. I would love to have mine look that good, but I don't know anyone who is that skilled with wood. It is very impressive work.

cuto
NDD. Impressive Thank you guys...i still can't believe my eyes everytime i see that. I had asked him to take pictures of the whole process, but apart being a talented carpenter and driving his beemer too fast, my friend , who is already 62 yo, forgot the camera work. He told me that the trick is to really get the wood sheet soaked in water for a good period. It becomes like wet toilet paper and very flexible. Using a water based glue (very strong stuff) he then covered the entire console. After the wood had dried (for 3 days) he began the trimming process...all by hand. The console now has wood even on hidden spots to prevent cracking. Finally the varnish was apllied and dried. He just thinks the work is not perfect because the console was a little bumpy, even after sanding process. But looks perfect to me!
///BHRpowered
although I dislike real wood in cars for maintance and appearane reasons, I mustsay your friend is extremely talanted and its very well done. Sorry you got screwed on ebay, I would file a dispute.
latinopikachu
i want one, how much is he charging, i want to replace my plastic one with wood like the original ones, since like BHR says I'm trying to make it 14 years older

As a friend he didn't charge me a dime. All my furniture was made by him...if i were to pay for that it would be in the thousands of dollars. Of course he also has a free of any cost lawyer. But anyhow, he would need your console. I will ask him, im sure its not as expensive as those stickers i saw...but again, it all depends on the wood uses: mohagony...rosewood...etc, etc.
mts
Cuto, that is awesome, much better than the factory plastic crap. Well Done. Something with a black stain would be awesome.... If I was to get it done that is...
cuto
Cuto, that is awesome, much better than the factory plastic crap. Well Done. Something with a black stain would be awesome.... If I was to get it done that is... I guess he could do it in any flavour...And i also bet he would have tons of consoles done if he was in USA. Besides that, i am pleased that, appart the factor that wood is more fragile than plastic, the Xedos 9 has a real wood console trim, just like the factory one. So...if this one cracks in a few years...now i know i can have it rebuilt again. ... BTW if that Ebay console arrives, i'll be having that rebuilt aswell. Im gonna wait another week, after that ill dispute the seller over paypal. I won't have the plain aluminium rebuilt, because it has a wider slot for the lighter and seat warmer buttons. I had that set dangling a bit.

cuto
that looks great! I wish i had a one-of-a-kind interior! Can i buy the aluminum trim piece from you? ChiTown: i left that one with my friend to do just the same work. I will save one of them as a REAL replacement , just in case. If i ever need it back to aluminium , its just a matter of peeling off the wood with some stuff he has, it will leave the aluminium clean. cuto
Lat: i have news about the price he his thinking as fair: 150 Bucks. But that would rise up because if you send me a console from USA it will be taxed here by customs. Altough i dunno how much that is, it shouldnt be too much. I really wish i could find consoles here in europe, it would make it easier and less costier to send them over to USA in whatever wood a person wished. It can be made in ANY kind of wood. If a person wishes a particular wood, it could always send a piece of it by regular mail. I am know trying to provide this info to any forums that are related to car restoration or/and classic cars. It is possible to have a full dashboard rebuilt. Jaguar guys are already interested. As far as i know, there is a guy in UK that does the same thing...unfortunatelly he never answered my emails, and it seems he only works with Jags and some other cars, not the millenia/Xedos. Renboy
meh, i like the shade of cherry, i could have said pear wood and make it look like a chink shit lexus The birds eye maple used in the sc430 is quite possibly the second classiest interior of all coupes...ever. Second only to the Veyrons interior. Though understandable given the vast price differences there has yet to be a Mazda interior that could match either of those two. I don't care how much you may like the milly, if you even try to say that it's nicer than the sc430 then that simply means you're biased by stupidity. I do agree though, pearwood is a boring ass wood to look at, but it does have it's advantages and I can understand why it's used.
///BHRpowered
lexus = garbage but the veyron interior? I can't argue quality as its top notch, and some things like the switches made from a solid piece of alum or something is nice, but overall I think the interior is piss ugly, it looks like something out of the late 70's
Matt64341
I think the Jaguar Daimler Super Eight has one of the nicest interiors with the light leather and the dark wood... (link)
