mohamedeladawy@hotmail.com
well it does more...prolongs the life of ur transmission and cools the fluid in it. it just helps ok? and yours doesnt have one. no one in N/A has one. not one that can be called on anyway. ChiTown
even engine temp comes down...on my old L the heat gauge went from around 40% before the cooler down to the 33% range. heat is the enemy of all engines and trannies... ///BHRpowered
angel, if its an aftermarket one then your good to go. something like 80% of transmissions fail due to excessive heat. a tranny cooler greater prolongs the life of the tranny and the fluid(even though you should still change every 25-50k max) also under hard driving shift points will remain firm and true and may or may not help with slippage in older transmissons

I was gonna do it to my older milly but when I got this car and had it inspected , the mechanic was shocked to see an aftermarket cooler. ///BHRpowered
no, not installed yet, probably sometime in early march. the first week of march I will be taking it out for sure, oil change, tranny flush, and my safety inspection expires. ///BHRpowered
I do want to get it installed BEFORE I do the tranny flush however, thats my main thing
mohamedeladawy@hotmail.com
well of course. that wont make sense. doing a tranny flush and then refilling the tranny fluid and then doing it again cuz some spilled as u were installing the tranny cooler. dwmcqueen
Anyone have a picture of their installed tranny cooler? Just so I can see how it was mounted... Also, if I add a filter, should it be before or after the cooler in the line? Or should it be on the opposite side?
Renboy
You already have a filter in the tranny, you don't need another.
dwmcqueen
You already have a filter in the tranny, you don't need another. I was thinking of a magnefine or something that filters a bit more than the one near the pan...
///BHRpowered
Not needed, tranny cooler just cools fluid, the filter on the tranny itself is plenty.
dwmcqueen
Not needed, tranny cooler just cools fluid, the filter on the tranny itself is plenty. Just looking at a tranny filter in the pan makes me think it doesn't filter that much. I know Ford recommends an inline filter on all rebuilds...Dealership even mentioned it as good preventive maintenance on my 6..
///BHRpowered
thats where it filters everything, all the fluid goes down into the pan and has to be sucked back up or go down, its a central place and the best for a filter. dwmcqueen
I think, from what I recall w/r/t my 6, was that the concern was debris from the radiator entering the transmission. The inline filter is placed after the radiator and before the tranny. The filter in the pan is before the radiator.
