SteveSter
Use this and follow the vacuum line to it. The EGR is the big shiny gold colored thing with a sensor on the top and a vac line coming out of it. The just look to see whats holding it in, remove the bolts and change. Lol sorry I just dont see any other way of explaining it. -Steven

Frankzao
Here are some pics: First stand on the passenger side of the car and find this: [attachmentid=1035] See the throttle cable support? [attachmentid=1036] The solenoid bank is located below it. See the light blue vacuum lines? Those two are to the ABV solenoid valve (vent) and air filter. The one on the right is the ABV solenoid valve (vacuum).
street3890
Thanks, how do u you remove them?
latinopikachu
there have become baked on with age and the plastic clips are brittle. i broke the bad one off and just use screwdriver to get the plastic out to put the new one in, if you don't really care you can remove them that way
street3890
How's the right way to remove them lol w/o breaking them haha
street3890
The one with the dot w/o the blue hose is the vaccum or vent?
Frankzao
The solenoid bank is located below it. See the light blue vacuum lines? Those two are to the ABV solenoid valve (vent) and air filter. The one on the right is the ABV solenoid valve (vacuum) it has a dot. To remove, they are clipped on. They each have a clip. If you reach under it (hand btwn it and the firewall) the clip is on the motor side of the solenoid. They all mount to a metal plate. Just need to need to release the clip and pull up while holding it open.
street3890
Ok, and when they come out, i check them with the multimeter? What do i hook them to though, i know there is a positive and negative part on the meter...
Matt64341
It doesn't matter which side is which when you are measuring resistance. Just turn the dial on the meter to ohms which looks like Ω and put one lead of the meter on each of the two pins on the solenoid.
street3890
Ok, but i do need to remove them to check them right?
mts
NO, you just need to unclip the harness and measure across the pins.
street3890
What pins? What harness? sorry
street3890
I think i found it!!! The second solenoid from the left, there is a hose coming out of the bottom correct? Is that supposed to be open or cut short not connecting to something? Because it's just a hose right now and it looks like it was cut in half... street3890
The vent and air filter solenoids are reversed in your picture, the oder of mine in my car from right to left is the vaccum, filter, vent, then the other one.
street3890
That gray hose is coming from the botton of the third to left valve, and is that the right order from right to left? third from the right*
mts
That hose should be hooked to the empty line on the solenoid. If you zoom in on the solenoid valves in the coloured drawing... there is a darker purple short line going from top connection of solenoid vent to top connection of solenoid vacuum. This is the line question.... attach it to the open line. http://www.mazdaworld.net/forums/index.php...st&p=188956 [attachmentid=1038] This might help with the electrical troubleshoot.... from the thread about troubleshooting 1540 1525 http://www.mazdaworld.net/forums/index.php...st&p=188956
street3890
Idk man, i can't find anything back there, its hot and very tight. And its coming from the bottom. And idk what all that troubleshooting stuff means!!! Is that my problem though?!?

ing-schu@online.no
Vacuum hoses ending up in the middle of nowhere tends to cause problems, yes.
