ing-schu@online.no
I invite a cutting, cynical rebuttal from the Good Xedie. I'm sure Audiworld is a nice and busy place, particularly keeping up with all the issue threads. I foresee this newbie asking; I'm about to replace the timing belt on my A4. Is this an easy DIY job? ///BHRpowered
No, per your advice I looked into it already and have gotton detailed instructions, as well as the correct kevlar replacement so it may go 100k, along with while doing the replacment change out the tensioner and replace waterpump with metal blade one to keep from issues in the future

///BHRpowered
Yes, from the factory the waterpumps had small plastic fins that are known to wear down or even break off, cuasing overheating in hot weather or extreme driving. The upgrade is a larger pump with all metal parts. You must remove the waterpump to change the timing belt so you might as well buy a new one

///BHRpowered
umm because having only 2 cars is unacceptable, I mean its basically only like having a jeep
ing-schu@online.no
I can think of a long list of cars I'd rather buy than an Audi. In fact it is easier to list the cars I'd be even more reluctant to buy. 1. Volkswagen. Further comments unneccessary. 2. Land Rover. Überunreliable but at least terrain capable. 3. Jeep. See comment #1.
mts
I will keep driving my Ford.... thanks.
///BHRpowered
Right now ford doesn't have a car that fits my needs, but I would buy a new ford over any other american car right now, and yes that includes Jeep, I want nothing to do with the 2011

Frankzao
Technically BHR doesn't own a drivable Milly.....He shouldn't even register it with the DMV...he should non-op it and stop paying for car insurance. Then take out property insurance for his piece of art.....his "2000 Millenia S...It's a car with stuff in it"
///BHRpowered
It is being forced to be driven this week. I wish I could actually do what you say, however virginia law complicates it. I can't cancel insurance unless I cancel the registation, which means to get it back in the spring I have to get a whole new inspection and open a new policy leading to increased costs, AND its not a sure thing I would get my personalized plates back. I have debated what to do in the coming years, I don't want to deal with the expense of storage but there may come a point where I put it into full storage mood, spray the cylinders, drain coolant and oil, seal exhaust, wheels removed, car on jacks but with suspension mostly compressed. Will have to see how things go
Troutman
Surely there are companies offering long-term storage solutions just like that.
///BHRpowered
There are, but then again do I want to pay as much per month as I would for a carpayment to store the millenia? many things depend on living sitution
///BHRpowered
It is interesting to note that in the course of this move the millenia is infact slowly being buried, walled off from sight. Yes its still in its carcapsule but that side of the garage no longer gets opened and has been walled off with boxes and pallets. Effectivly sealing the millenia to where I can't get get to it. ///BHRpowered
Rust? HA, not a spec. Air changed out every hour, filtered, climate controlled, slowly being walled off for protection. ///BHRpowered
HA, you act as if it is a Jeep, it loves nothing more then to ponder the fools out and about inhauling someone elses dirty exhaust, rocks and dirt being thrown back, dirty roads, other people with substandard brakes. HA The millenia grows stronger with each brick encasing it for a thousand centuries to come
